I tried to login this past weekend to find out that someone hacked my account and changed my password. A GM directed me to the SE online chat webpage so I could talk to a rep and get an account rollback. When I was asked to provide all the details they require the SE rep said that the credit card info was correct but the name/address/phone number registered to this account was not correct. After fighting with them for over an hour, the SE rep basically told me I was shit out of luck unless I could provide the exact name/address/phone number linked to that account....I tried telling them that I believe that the person who stole my account changed all this info. I even provided them with the old info but he still told me there was nothing he could do for me at this time and that I had to give him the CURRENT account information. Needless to say this is bullshit! Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The customer service chat script for providing an account rollback is probably different than that for recovering a stolen account (one requires current info whereas the other does not), so the next time you contact customer support start off by saying that you need to recover a stolen account and after you get the account back, contact them again for a rollback.

The first thing I said to the dumbass at SE was " My account was stolen from me and they changed my password! can you help me get it back?" and as I stated earlier I was rejected cause my account info (name/address/number) didn't match up to what I gave him.

This GM is not up to date with SE policy. They stopped this retarded policy quite a few months ago. I suggest you ask to speak to their superior or someone else.

That's usually when you will have to just redial and try again, CSRs get really pissed off when you ask for someone else or a manager ("none are available!").

If you go through the process of reporting the theft, you should be able to get the transfer fees refunded.

I'm getting a rollback, it's just worrisome because I had no way to log into the game last night (literally I had no way to connect my PS2 to the internet and I don't have the game installed on my new PC) so I had a friend do it. Here's to hoping that doesn't bite me in the ass since they asked what his ISP is for their investigation. :/

Honestly I'm still really confused as to how you can get compromised when your PC isn't powered on, connected to the internet, and you haven't logged in for months.

Though the Hack vs SE is sounding more and more realistic. Do you
A) go after thousands of users with various security levels and due to awareness are getting harder and harder to compromise.
B) go after the protocol used to connect to the servers which rarely/if ever has changed
C) go after the servers that house the data you seek
D) find a disgruntled employee whom somehow has access the data you seek and persuade them to aid you.

If you answered D, you might be a shadowrunner.

POL Error 0206? That's not having your account hacked, that's "there's problems with logging in right now".

I was logged in overnight. I woke up, took off /away and anon, and immediately flagged up THF 73 (you take what you can get, when you get it at that level.)

Three hours later I got a party invite for a 45 level sync. I accepted, and we were heading from Whitegate to Jeuno for the trip to CN. After I paid my silver coin, I R0'd. A minute later I got an error that said "The square enix account password or one time password is incorrect."

Thinking the worst, I immediately called SE. Was only on hold for 20 minutes, not too bad (I've heard about the 3 hour hold times.) He didn't believe I could get that error while logged in >_>

He had me confirm the usual info, and then attempt to log into the SE Account page. The password hadn't been changed there. Logging back into FFXI I encountered no problems, and I returned back where I had logged out.

The SE rep thinks it was just a residual burp from the login server errors this morning, but I'm wondering if somehow someone got a hold of my old POL ID and tried inputting an old password with it, giving me the error. (The password I used for the LS community years ago has since been changed in POL several times.)

I just got the same error Catwho but it was when I was logging to mule.

I think that was a server burp from the trouble, for when I logged off mule after backing ALLLL the way back out and logging back in (that seemed to fix it) I had no problems.

And eww on wiki! I may have to use something else for a while. I'll see if I can report this, but yar, prolly a server hiccup. and someone tell the people in charge of wiki. I've taken FFXIwiki off trusted sites on my Noscript for now. And it's not going back into until they clean up their act.

Also it might help; I don't use the official viewer for *.pdf files. I use another program other than Adobe's. That may be why if that script has been the whole problem, why I haven't gotten a lick. Adobe Acrobat has become serious bloatware, so it doesn't come a mile near my system ^^

I blame false alarms. Virus software tries to scare you (omg COOKIE) more than anything else these days. (so you pay for the subscription to feel better!)

I doubt it would come to that with his ip address, if it did though, I think your friend would let you know he was being investigated. After that you could confirm that you asked him log in because you could not.

Yeah. Prolly was, and since this started, I have been blocking google ads. (I'm Nymphadora's friend who asked her to post that site that gives directions on how to block google ads since I couldn't post in this thread at the time.)
