So the big wad of server transfer charges that the RMT used my CC to take my characters to Alexander just showed up on my bank account today, will SE clear those charges on their own in the process of investigating my hacking? Or do I have to tell them to clear them on my own? I only ask because the charges weren't even showing up as pending when I got this whole situation started, so I figured maybe the hackers didn't use my info for the server transfer, so I didn't ask the service rep about it.

Also, I've sent in the game data recovery declaration thing into them, will they respond that they've started, or will they just kinda start doing their own thing and contact me when they're done and I'm all fixed?

Pardon the ignorance, I'm uneducated in this matter and I am paranoid they didn't get the email, and I'm frugal/stingy and I want my 50 bucks back and don't particularly want to sit on hold with them for another several hours to get said cash back.

I have heard both, some people saying that they requested credit for the hacker's charging the fees. Others say SE did it for them. I personally think it is best to make sure by asking, even if it means being on hold or chat. They should/might be able to confirm the receipt of your data recover email if you contact them also.
In my opinion if you wait and assume things went through, it only delays it further when you later find out that they did not actually process it yet.

Thanks. Looks like I might go ahead and call them about the money issue then. I think 10 of it is for the token I sucked up and got since I figure it'll at least keep me safe if their servers are compromised again, which is all I should need since my computer is well protected against the other type of hackings.

Hoping it wont take me a couple months to get them to give the cash back though. Poor college student etc etc.

Whatever you do, do NOT do the charge back yourself through your bank because SE may LM-17 your account. As long as it may take, let them (SE/POL) authorize the credits for you.

I hear ya, I was in college at the time. I eventually gave up on getting the world transfer back until one day months later when I was pleasantly surprised to see a deposit from SE lol. I think it came on the same day as the monthly charges, but I may be wrong on that memory.

POL posted up an important announcement regarding unauthorized access. It has considerably different instructions as to how to respond to getting the "logged in from different terminal" message as well as other critical instructions. It seems to be important, so I posted it in SE/POL news thread here in spite of my previous decision not to post those anymore .

I was logged in overnight. I woke up, took off /away and anon, and immediately flagged up THF 73 (you take what you can get, when you get it at that level.)

Three hours later I got a party invite for a 45 level sync. I accepted, and we were heading from Whitegate to Jeuno for the trip to CN. After I paid my silver coin, I R0'd. A minute later I got an error that said "The square enix account password or one time password is incorrect."

Thinking the worst, I immediately called SE. Was only on hold for 20 minutes, not too bad (I've heard about the 3 hour hold times.) He didn't believe I could get that error while logged in >_>

He had me confirm the usual info, and then attempt to log into the SE Account page. The password hadn't been changed there. Logging back into FFXI I encountered no problems, and I returned back where I had logged out.

The SE rep thinks it was just a residual burp from the login server errors this morning, but I'm wondering if somehow someone got a hold of my old POL ID and tried inputting an old password with it, giving me the error. (The password I used for the LS community years ago has since been changed in POL several times.)

That sucks, it's the start of the weekend which means support phone line is closed, so they're probably starting to hit heavily again.

Yeah they did a lump sum for me, showed up right alongside the monthly charges, so I guess they just do ALL related PoL billing once a month regardless of when you do it? Cause I didn't even get a separate charge for the token, just everything mashed into one $50 wad.<_< /lesigh PoL

Hopefully getting on their backs about it early will ensure it being quicker. Here's hoping.

Yeah once a month compiled into a single charge I notice. So if I get a content id this month it will show up on my next month charges added onto my regular charges. It might help to keep on them about it indeed.

I don't know if you meant you might have to (...). Remember that SE is currently requiring people to either confirm their identity live or have 3DS to change their account ownership info via pol.

If you meant you might need to do a charge back from your bank. Not that SE will dismiss it, but maybe let SE know first so you do not get credits from both SE and your bank, making your bank account go into the red when they figure it out and/or consider it fraud.

So my mule's password got changed sometime between last night and this afternoon and I've scanned both of my pcs multiple times. My 2nd pc, which I knew better, wasn't using noscript and such because I had just reformatted it, I should have put my condoms on before I went to any websites but I didn't so that's on me. I only went to Pandora and Wiki last night so I guess it probably came from Wiki but I can't know for sure. However after several scans with AVG I'm not finding a single thing wrong. Any suggestions on how I can find this thing?

I would suggest you read the rest of the thread, or at least the last few pages.

We've already pretty much hammered it down to two types of hackings, one of them related on SE's end, so your stuff got ganked from their end, not yours. You probably don't have a virus or keylogger at all.

Fiance just got that message while logging out, then while the POL loaded up after exiting the game - but he's still logged IN to POL viewer and able to click the play button to go back into game np (he'd temp logged to go out for a while).

Anybody else having log-in difficulties this morning? Not getting any kind of scary wrong password message, it's the POL-1160, "Network is busy or there are connection problems. Please try again later or verify that cables, networking devices, and network settings are properly configured" error. Obviously my connection is functioning fine, and it's def not any kind of billing problem. Wondering if it's another long-in server failure like the one a few days ago.

I stay logged in all the time, and was logging out to switch to cooking mule, and got the same error message "The square enix account password or one time password is incorrect."
I logged completely out, logged back in, and got back on with no problems, but was r0ing a lot.
Spyware Doctor picked up a keylogger called Backdoor.Rbot 2 days ago.
I am not sure where I got it yet. If i nail down where I picked it up at, I'll let everyone know if it was an ffxi related site.
