new users on forums.

I've been thinking about this for a while. I've been wondering what long time users think of new users. Do you really care what new people have to say or do you just look for people you know on here. I've been using forums for a bit and it seems like people just respond to long time member's. I'm not saying that everyone is like this but it seems more common than not common. Also I know this is not the most exciting thread to talk about but I was just looking for everyone's opinions about this.

I would take an intelligent topic from a new user over another lame trolling attempt by an old member, sough sough, any day of the week. That being said I think familiarity and recognizable names certainly make me more likely to initially click a topic.

However since I am not nearly as blunt as him I will try to be nice about it and explain to you.

In any situation (on the internet or in RL) when you have a large social group of people together in one place there are certain things that happen. People who have been part of the group for a long time tend to have strong bonds and know each other and even sometimes trust each other. When a new person wants to join the group they are questionable until they prove themselves not retarded.

You know what.... I am tired of typing this crap out go read a book on psychology and sociology or anthropology about how society works. (not sure which one would be best for your answer but one of them will contain an insightful bit of information about why these forums and the rest of life is like this.)

if I didnt know people irl here i probably wouldnt have started posting here. Most of the people here have built in game relationships with each other and if you weren't a part of that you have to get to know them. Playing ffxi will help as well as long as you dont suck. also, dont mention he who shall not be named's name in the forum.

I never knew anyone here in game or irl before posting here but it took me a long time to start posting. I lurked on my original account on the original site for a long time.
