Hmm, can anyone back Portable Ops? Only canon Metal Gear I haven't played.

Its gameplay is kinda tedious, especially recruiting soldiers by having to carry their unconscious bodies back to the truck one by one since no fulton for that task. I guess if you live in a city you could just do some drive-by wifi tagging to get soldiers easy via that route to do research or send into missions.

Didn't recall its plot being that significant. Just a lot of area revisiting to recruit, collect shit, and proceed in the game.

The multiplayer had some fun moments.

Oh being a trap sniper was a joy.

Granted, if you do not currently have a college campus rec room full of people playing it, you won't get that experience.

The storyline is pretty decent and as mentioned above the gameplay is tedious at times; the best part of the game is the epic theme song. The story isn't "technically" cannon but it does explain a bit more about how the Philosopher's Legacy gets back from the Chinese.
