Its more expensive to buy the Arcade and then the HD. Just get the elite bundle, lots of places are offering $50 gift cards now with the purchase of an elite.

Im pretty sure its in store only, but I know GameStop and TRU was doing the giftcard thing.
Another thing, Elites no longer come with hdmi cables, so you'd have to buy that extra, and be warned when you buy a new xbax you pretty much HAVE to buy extras for it. Play and charge kits, live membership if you want to play online, adapter for wireless etc.
HD cable kit if you don't want to use shitty TV speakers through HDMI
How about a Modern Warfare Elite? I know its 399 but think about what you're getting: 2 Controllers (50 dollars), Call of Duty MW2 (60 dollars), Wireless headset (50-20 = 30 dollars) Bigger harddrive and the limited edition xbox. If you're going to get a 2nd controller for your bros at home and you're gonna get MW for the xbox to play with them, why not just buy that?
if you can find one, yea those are great
Dunno I mod'd my own drive from my xbox360 arcade and it cost me basically $45 (15 for enclosure + $30 for a 120 gig laptop hd). The arcade price has been pretty cheap lately as well, and no longer lacks a hdmi port. I think my xbox360 arcade (which I got for $100 around bf, became uber for basically $150 total)
This one's pretty random, but Amazon has Person 4 up for $28 with FS.

What is this about? Do they use a special HDMI cable with their kit? I just used a regular HDMI 1.3 cable to the TV, with a digital optical set connected to the TV. I am retarded despite hearing sound from the speakers, though, so I'm curious as to what the deal is. lol
http://slickdeals.net/permadeal/2999...or-2-Bundle-10 - Handful of 360 games on sale @Newegg for $10 and under with FS. Anything worthwhile in this bunch?
Wanted is not a that bad of a game tbh

This is how the back of the 360 is laid out and the only connectors.
The proprietary A/V cable that comes with the 360 is huge, so huge that it will cover the HDMI port, so you can't have the A/V cable and the HDMI cable connected at the same time unless you buy the Microsoft 360 HDMI cable kit, which gives you a smaller cable so that you can fit both, and other audio options.
That's not entirely true. I can't post links yet (lul not 10 posts) but there is a workaround. Go to youtube and look up "Optical and HDMI on Xbox 360 at same time - adapter hack" I did mine a long time ago and its still working just fine. Please ignore the annoying ginger kid :3
Well, the 360 didn't originally have HDMI either, so it's probably more that they didn't space the ports properly when they added it or changed the design of the A/V cable like they shoulda. Not saying they shouldn't have accounted for it, but just saying I doubt the cable was originally designed to block that port. To me, it's more a case of being sloppy than malicious. Every console OEM milks you for one accessory or another.
Arguably too, there are several routes one might go with HDMI. It's designed to be an all-in-one solution, and for many people it is. Either because they don't have external sound, or because they have a modern HDMI-capable receiver. For some solutions, using audio-out from your TV may work fine too (doing that with my PS3 only netted stereo/Pro Logic, even over optical, but YMMV).
Not really. I've just seen MS screw up often enough to make me think it's not always part of the business plan. IE, red ringing 360s, Windows ME, Vista, original Zune, and so on.
No console includes every possible connectivity option out of the box. My 360 Elite was close, as it did include an HDMI cable, the audio-only adapter, and so on. It was also the original model to include HDMI. I had to buy a component cable for my Wii. I had to buy an HDMI cable for my PS3.
With sites like Monoprice and Amazon, buying a normal HDMI cable is hardly an expense. Doesn't change the fact that you still have to buy $200+ worth of accessories for any model Xbox to get it remotely close to what the PS3 comes with for the same base price.
