I have a question, how is Amazon on release day timing? Will they ship a day or 2 in advance so it shows up on the day it comes out or what? Thinking of buying black ops over amazon instead of going out to gamestop. Game comes out on a tuesday, so if I order it will it get there on tuesday or will I have to wait until wed. most likely?

If it does release date delivery you will get it on the day it releases. If you have prime, release date delivery is free. They usually ship it 1 or 2 days before street date.

So is there a reason why Canadian retailers never bother with competitive game deals? Only thing I see the odd time is a random game sale in a flyer, or GameStop's deal of the week (which isn't every week), nor do any of the deals announced for the USA chain of stores apply to the ones up here.

It's bad enough that we have to pay a $10 premium on a lot of games over the US price, even when our currency is worth a measly penny less. Only thing that was substantial in the last year was BestBuy releasing the odd new game for $38, making other retailers such as Walmart do the same to keep up.
(which occurred on Batman:AA, Borderlands, Just Cause 2, and Assassin's Creed 2 to my knowledge)

It's probably the same reason why our ISPs and cell phone providers are fine sitting on their ass and fucking us with high prices for limited bandwidth usage.

I never have had an issue with release date delivery from amazon, however if you are the last person on the mail route, you may get it quicker at a store lol

Well I'm in school is the thing, lol. Mail room closes as 5pm, but the problem is if it arrives later in the day I won't be able to get it. I think I'm just going to get it from amazon, waiting an extra day is no big deal honestly. I have class until like 4 on the day it comes out so it doesn't matter to me when it comes, just that it does lol.

More stores are doing midnight releases for black ops too, and most are even getting Prestige editions, so I really don't want to hear people saying they would rather get nothing for buying Black Ops cause they bought it 6 hours earlier.

It's that time of year again

Sears’ full Black Friday 2010 ad has been discovered, scanned and leaked onto the internet. While Sears isn’t the first place gamers think of when they’re heading out to buy a console or game, the store does have a nice selection of titles and its ad for this season includes DSi, PS3 and PSP bundles and discounted Wii, Xbox 360, PS3 and DS games.

One of the first things you see in the ad is a glimpse of Nintendo’s holiday DSi bundle. Each year, Nintendo releases a DS or DSi bundle around Black Friday that’s limited and slightly special. This year’s is a $149.99 DSi bundle that comes with a red or green DSi and a copy of Mario Party DS. I think Nintendo’s trying to go with Mario-red and Luigi-green to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Super Mario. You also get a $20 Sears award card when you purchase either one.

Likewise, Sony always does the same thing with the PS3 and PSP and, fortunately for us, Sears showcases them as well. The PS3 holiday bundle this year is a $299.99 160gb PS3 with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and a Blu-ray of the The Karate Kid remake. The box appears to mention something else (perhaps another game), but it is too blurry to read. The PSP holiday bundle comes with a black PSP-3000, LittleBigPlanet, a The Karate Kid remake on UMD and a memory stick. It will normally cost $169.99 this holiday season, but Sears will have it on sale for $129.99 for its Black Friday sale.

Sears also will have two promotions for existing systems. If you purchase a 4gb Xbox 360 for $199.99, you’ll also get Halo Reach for free. Also, the Nintendo Wii bundle, which comes with a Wii, Wii Sports Resort and Wii Sports will be $189.99 instead of $199.99.

The Sears ad also mentions a few game deals. There are three categories shown, one showing Wii games that will be $10, one showing Xbox 360 games that will be $39.99 and one showing a selection of games that will be $14.99 or less. The $14.99 or less category says that additional games will be available in stores, so let’s just focus on the shown games.

looks like Alan Wake is down to $29.99 at gamestop this week, although I think that might be the new MSRP. Great game, and a great price considering new copies should still have the first DLC for free.

Of course TRU's sale was a 20 dollar gift card for buying any 59.99 game. Of course with Black Ops(Prestige also) releasing in 1 hour, you would get 20 dollars for free for just buying the game. There's also free T-shirts too. There's even a free 50 dollar gift card for buying 2 59 games, so you can buy Black Ops and Sims 3 and get 007 Blood Stone for 10 Bucks. Or Hey, do like every other TRU shopper and use your 25 dollar gift card from Halo Reach, buy Black Ops for 45, get 20 back, wait for Assassins Creed or Epic Mickey's promo, ???, then profit.

Driving home(we're doing the midnight release too) people were already lined up at the typical stores. Getting nothing for their 60 dollars. I havent bought a game that wasnt part of a deal in a long time.

Are $150 360s still floating around retailers? Long story short, I bought a crappy refurb and it's showing the signs of wanting to die for a third time (though I haven't ruled out a possible hard drive issue since it keeps freezing while trying to play Castlevania HD). When I do get a freeze, sometimes the system refuses to boot at all or freezes again during the swirly X animation. I've tried to get it to freeze while in the dashboard, but can't say I had any luck. Either way, M$ won't touch this system because it was opened by a third party and even then they'd want $99 for a fix. Figure I'm better off getting a new one and actually having a warranty now. Still pissed about all this, too.
