Is $185 a good deal for a 80GB backwards compatible PS3? Seller says it's from the MGS4 bundle and still works perfect. Only thing is he says he doesn't have a controller, definitely going to ask wtf is with that and if he could actually knock it down to 160-170 because controllers are 40+ bucks alone. Going to test it tomorrow morning with my neighbor and use his PS3 controller and ps1, ps2 games as well. If I can get it for that range, I will have enough for a decent LED 1080p monitor to play it on.

MGS4 PS3 has partial software emulation for PS2 BC, so not all games will work perfectly.

Sony's provided a fair-sized database of what works and what has issues for both the launch PS3s, and the 80gb MGS4 model - http://us.playstation.com/support/co...atus/index.htm

Anyways, I'd never buy a modern console used, particularly the earlier models that have potential overheating issues.

I thought about that as well but I at least want to test it out. I know about 3 friends with the same MGS4 bundle PS3, and another with the 80GB BC Motorstorm bundle, and they are still running strong for them. One of them in particular has used his PS3 more than 4+ hrs daily since Christmas 2007 so it seems these were a better batch than the 60GB's which a lot of my friends have already yellow lighted/broke down.

Starting the 19th, target will be doing a B2G1 sale on all PS Vita titles.... just for those picking up a new shiny on the 22nd.

True, but Steam doesn't get to sell it for a very long time if ever. And, even DVD copies require Origin. In other words, if you want ME3 on PC at some point in the next year, it's going to involve Origin.

^^ I just got origin only because of ME3 and hated the thought of it as well. But, it runs smooth enough and it should make getting DLC a sh*tload easier than steam made it for me2.
