For those of you out there who still aren’t convinced of Gran Turismo 5’s pending 2009 release date, take a look at the game’s official brochure handed out at last week’s GamesCom convention. Snapped by RiseOfGames, the brochure was quickly translated by forum users – but you don’t have to be fluent in German to figure out what “4. Quartel 2009″ means. Via user G.T.Ace:

Best news all year rly. Prologue is still the game I play most on my PS3, GT5 is going to provide an endless amount of playtime.:D

I've read that the car damage wasn't very realistic, which honestly doesn't matter that much to me but I'd hope the final product doesn't half-ass damage just to say it's in the game...

Very much looking forward to this though. I'm hoping the car upgrades are a little more in depth then previous games where in most cases there's always a "best" choice. I guess car damage could factor in here, for example if you lighten a car it'll take more damage thus making it less ideal for snow/dirt tracks, etc...

IIRC only Nascar and WRC will support damage.

Porsche once again refused to be in the game... Whatever though. Still have Ferrari, Lambo, and now Buggati! :D

I'd still like to see it though, whenever it gets released, GT was the series that got me hooked on racing games.

At least on 360 we know Forza3 is going to be out this year for sure.

Yeah idk wtf is up with Porsche not wanting to be in the biggest racing franchise. It's a dumb move on their end imo, I was really hoping to be able to try out the GT3 RS since I'll never be able to irl. lol

Gran Turismo 5: March 2010 in Japan

Gran Turismo 5’s release window has just been set to March 2010 for Japan, according to Kazunori Yamauchi at the TGS press conference. This, unfortunately, runs directly counter to everything that we’ve heard so far from a wide variety of sources for nearly an entire year:

November 30, 2008 – Sony executive in Europe mentions GT5 will “arrive at Christmas” during an interview with a financial magazine.

June 4, 2009 – Kazunori Yamauchi states: “We can release Gran Turismo 5 whenever we want.” during E3 interview.

August 2, 2009 – GTPlanet acquires internal company documents which clearly outline the date that Sony expects to release the game (and it was well within 2009).

August 22, 2009 – Kazunori Yamauchi states that “GT5 will be released shortly after this date [October 1st]” during an interview.

August 23, 2009 – Printed material distributed by Sony at the GamesCom 2009 conference clearly indicate the game will be released during the fourth quarter of 2009.

Needless to say, everyone – including myself – are pretty surprised by the most recent turn of events. Was there a problem during the game’s development? Did criticisms of the damage engine shown off at GamesCom send Polyphony Digital back to the drawing board? We may never know for sure.

Never really cared for racing games, so please excuse my ignorance, but wasn't GT5: Prologue basically a demo for GT5? And wasn't that released like 1½ year ago?

While Porsche isn't in the game RUF was last time and I'm sure will be this time. RUF is just a Porsche tuning shop so it's all the same to me. Porsche is going through a lot of things with Volkswagen taking over owner ship to the company so it probably an issue about the trademarks.

I think it's more than that since Porsche is in NFS: Shift and Forza. They just don't like Polyphony.

I forgot about that actually. There's actually still time considering the 458 Italia is now in GT there may still be a chance considering Porsche just updated their whole line up. I'm hopeful but it wouldn't bother me enough to worry about it if they aren't in the game.
