It's definitely that, every time the menu seems like it's frozen I get a message saying "Couldn't connect to the server" and then it works fine. Just sign out and play offline and it should be faster.

Doing the nascar special events. Nascars cost around 500k each, I have 200k right now.

The main menu cannot connect to server deal with extreamly annoying.. but once i got in and started racing i was in love.
The game itself runs great at even the highest res. I havent bothered with any of the "standard" cars you get enough credits to get a new "premium" car.
Yes the trees are the normal bland GT trees.
Also...the 1st Top Gear Test Track challenge with the VW vans can go to hell.
