Still think forza is better. GT always felt boxy to me.

I enjoy Forza 3, but not as a simulation. It feels more arcade-ish to me, which isn't a bad thing. Forza's photo mode is beautiful though. I still prefer GT as a game simulation however

New video of GT5 introducing a car:

EDIT: Also, what the fuck is up with making Active Steering aid so much more obvious in Forza 3? Forza 2 had it but not to such an extent. Can't turn it off either

I don't get what is the big deal with car damage. I'd take a well modeled weather and track over damage anyday.

Edit: That goes for any racing game not just GT.

Because a lot of people don't want to feel like they are playing bumper cars. You could actually abuse non-car damage games by bumping in to other cars to help with corners. Forza and I think GT5 have aesthetic damage as well as damage that effects how your car drives.

Well in forza 2 you get penalized for hitting other cars. If I wanted to crash a car I'd go play burnout.

It just feels the public goes: 'no car damage = bad racing game'.

    This.

Online the damage makes its more real and harder, if I can smash into someone going 90 around a corner instead of taking the apex most will.
Makes me race smarter picking the times to pass so I dont fuck my car up.

Not sure if this was posted somewhere else but... some new info found in February's PS Magazine.

    » 1,000+ vehicles
» All vehicles have modeled cockpits (170 premium cars will have interior damage modeling)
» All vehicles will have both physical and mechanical damage modeling
» Indy (IRL) cars and tracks
    » NASCAR cars and track
» Up to 16 players online
» High-definition video uploads directly to YouTube
    » Multi-display rendering (3 PS3s and 3 screens)
    » Head-tracking
» Full weather settings on all tracks
» Night/Day settings on all tracks

    I can't wait. :/

There was an interview in Japanese that was translated on GAF, if it is true it is just delayed for roughly one month. No idea why.

Watch in 720p on Youtube for better quality.

GT Academy 2010 Finals Switzerland / France, shows new footage of the game at around 3m:15s mark. And holy crap, it looks amazing. I love the 1:1 it does with his hands on the wheel in-game to his hands on the real steering wheel. Lighting and shading looks brilliant and the textures/trees look like a huge improvement over the time trial demo.

Flag system is in the demo too.

Seeing that trailer has renewed my interest in this again, but it is short lived because i remember this wont be coming out for a long time. I kind of like that music, for some strange reason it seems to fit well in that trailer.

Well, November is plenty of time to get the extra cash for the wheel/seat setup I'll have to get when this hits.

Been waiting for fucking years, my old DFP gears are fucked from all the sawing I did on it with GT4 and Enthusia back in the day.

Plus the couple of times I hurled it across the room didn't help...

Forget the delays. Gran Turismo 5 is worth waiting for. And it's finally getting ready to peel out of the garage.

At a behind closed doors meeting at the E3 gaming expo, Gran Turismo designer Kazunori Yamauchi showed off the game. GT5 has been in development for years now, first getting revealed at the 2006 E3 event. But, those years of toil are readily visible in the game.

There are over one thousand cars, divided into two classes: Standard and Premium. The standard classes are GT favorites like the Lamborghini Countach or the Ford Mustang. The Premium cars are newer automobiles like the Ferrari Enzo or the Lamborghini Gallardo. Those Premium cars will be the only ones that will featured "panel separation" and deformation. The developers have created fully modeled interiors for the Premium cars, as well as doing detailed modeling for the car's undercarriage and even the exhaust pipes!

The level of detail, Yamauchi admits, might be "too much" and better suited for the next PlayStation. The developers even reproduced the graffiti from the Nurburgring tracks — something that is very much part of that track's tradition. And the team has been trying to keep the in-game graffiti as up-to-date as possible before it ships. (No, it will not feature the profane graffiti!)

This obsessiveness over detail, however, is exactly what players want from a new Gran Turismo. The attention to detail shows in new additions like smoke illumination, collision sparks and kicking up debris. The detail is also readily evident in the Travel Photo Mode that lets players travel to locales like Japan or Italy and snap pictures in pictoresque spots like the Kyoto Gion.

But it isn't only detail that the developers have been working on. The new "My Lounge" feature gathers your GT racing friends from your PSN friends list and creates a place where players can race, chat and watch others race. Each player gets his or her own personal lounge.

All this detail can't be cheap. And Yamauchi is reluctant to talk about the game's final price tag. Previously, he mentioned that it cost US$60 million. "I was worried more people were more interested in its budget than Gran Turismo," Yamauchi said, declining to reveal the game's final budget.

Gran Turismo 5 will be out this November.
