This is rFactor on the limit, i helped test that particular singapore track, which has since been released to the public. The car itself is Proprietary, but plenty of mod versions are available. Looks terrible by Forza/GT standards but its not the point. Could potentially be of some interest to anyone who wants a more in-depth experience.

Also, Not sure if the flashy outside shots are from GT5 or just some random animations. I know Seb has done some voiceovers for GT5, and Redbull F1 should be making an appearance.

Sorry to all you console lovers, but this man speaks the real truth.

I love GT series, but "real" SIM racing is practically a PC exclusive genre.

For GT5 much of the racing elements were developed with teams within each genre or race type. Kaz worked very closely with the Torro Rosso team developing the F1 aspect. He also took place in the 24 hours of Nurburg using much of the data collected by his car in the game. GT mimics much of the same quality as those professional sims like I mentioned before, but it maintains a fun factor that those sims can't reproduce. Only professional drivers and occasional track drivers are ever interested in what those sims provide, because they are stripped down to basic necessities. Which is not a bad thing, but they are completely different as I said.

Most of this shit is done by other arcade series, and better. The use of the word simulation in the title is a farce.

Cars in PGR franchise looked as good/better years ago, and all of them had better interiors. The 'ring was modeled accurately in that too, so its hardly something to shout about. The track previews of GT5 are underwhelming, things have moved on.

Forza especially is going to give this a run for its money, there are lots of things that are unconfirmed for GT5 that forza already has or has confirmed. Dirt2 while aimed at a kind of strange audience, and suffering content-wise for it, is also pretty decent.

If you want serious racing on a serious simulator, rFactor and iRacing are your only options.

rFactor user content can be a bit iffy, but its all free and unlimited, if you so desire you can have every racing circuit in the world and 25,000 cars ready to go. The top modding houses do an outstanding job, every major racing series is covered with several incredible mods.

As far as online, league play really sets them apart, DTMliga, F1liga, F1elites, and iRacings proprietary leagues trash the 'destruction derby against a bunch of 5 year olds' of console online play.
Have you seen the amount of stuff confirmed for GT5? I'm sorry, but I own and have played the shit out of Forza 3 and Dirt 2 but they don't come anywhere as close content-wise. GT5 will be a huge fucking hit in Europe and most especially the UK just for the Top Gear test track alone. I don't think people realize how huge Top Gear is.

    Spoiler: show
It has 350 million worldwide viewers.

Also a rumored 21 year waiting list to get tickets for their TV show.

I agree. GT has always been the at the forefront, if not the best racing game out there. The only other series that comes slightly behind is PGR imo.

I want to beat Cowell's lap at least, the smug git.

For anyone that wants the times for everything: http://www.topgear.com/uk/tv-show?La...vrolet-Lacetti
On the right side of the page is the lap times of all the celebrities, the Liana was the car they used before, and the Lacetti is the car they used the most recently (it has just been retired and a new car will be used in the new season of Top Gear). You can change the times by clicking on the car at the top of the list, some of them have videos of the lap too.

If you click on the Power Laps, you can see Stigs times in the supercars. Here's the top 10:

    1 # Gumpert Apollo - 1.17.1
    2 # Ascari A10 - 1.17.3
3 # Koenigsegg CCX (with Top Gear spoiler) - 1.17.6
    4 # Pagani Zonda F Roadster - 1.17.8
    5 # Caterham R500 - 1.17.9
    6 # Bugatti Veyron - 1.18.3
    7 # Pagani Zonda F - 1.18.4
    8 # Maserati MC12 - 1.18.9
    9 # Ferrari Enzo - 1.19.0
    10 # Porsche 911 GT2 (997) - 1.19.5 (pd)

My only concern with GT5 is that it won't have the level of customization that Forza 3 has. I hope I'm wrong. Oh yeah and as far as console racing games go... Forza > PGR by a looooooong shot. PGR shouldn't even be in the same category since it's more of an arcade racer.

I never really got into the Forza series, i remember trying it out when it came in the bundle back for my 360 and for some reason i just couldn't get into it. Havent touched it since; probably a mistake on my part.

Forza 2 was pretty bad from what I remember but 3 is pretty solid.

Shows the day to night transition. I'm impressed with how the road signs light up in the night when the headlights hit them, pretty realistic. The driver sucks though.
