How exactly is the game being exploited online? Are we talking game bugs, or people using CFW PS3s and cheating?
How exactly is the game being exploited online? Are we talking game bugs, or people using CFW PS3s and cheating?
A select group of participants in the GT academy who made it into round two have been exploiting certain sectors and sections of the tracks where for whatever reason, penalties aren't being applied for either contact being made or cutting the course. For example:
People were circumventing the last two corners of the indy road course by basically off roading into a straight line to avoid the difficult hairpins and then just yesterday people began making HUGE contact with the walls to avoid slowing down and making it easier to to cut 5 tenths of a second off of lap times. There's videos on youtube I think labeled academy fail or gt academy fail, if you care to look.
Edit: one video

I don't get why PD didn't just fix the tracks that are obviously broken like that. Adding two (and eventually 4) new tracks just adds to the amount of abuse like that that can happen, especially on the track that wasn't in the game previously (the Eiffel one or whatever it was called). I'm assuming it uses the same cheating detection as on the time trial laps, so if they would have fixed Indy and reset times, you still reward the people who can drive the track legit, and force the cheaters to actually learn the corners. I can't imagine it taking all that long to fix the Indy issue at least, since it seems to be only those two corners.
You would think it would be something automatic like "Any part of your tire off-road = DNF + car explode" like the fucking license tests.
They have been unable to fix it alter the penalty system for whatever reason. They're now waiting on a PSN update to fix the system.
Dunno what's going on with Japan releasing big titles unfinished lately. I tried it again last night and it just feels downright stagnant.
So I finally got around to getting GT5 today.
Turns out they straight up lied lol.
from http://us.gran-turismo.com/us/products/gt5p/
and it's confirmed there's no way to do soHead Start on Gran Turismo 5 -- Get a jump on the competition. You can transfer your Gran Turismo 5 Prologue progress to Gran Turismo 5 when it releases.
I remember reading something about why they decided not to allow that transfer. They did allow transfers from the PSP but I forget the reason why they scrapped allowing prologue cars.
Yeah it's not a huge deal by any means, just annoying that they used it as a selling point and it wasn't true lol.
I just want my 300mph jet car to drive in circles >.>
Yeah, have fun getting to level 30 and beating the special events, or spending days with your PS3 on as you get your B-Spec to 35, lol
Meh, I don't think it'll take all that long really. I'm like level 10 after a couple hours.
AFK practicing drafting to get my vw bus above 64.
Bspec takes a long time. Level 10 is nothing. The grind hasn't even set in yet.![]()
a spec not b lol, fuck b spec, might as well go play some coach mode madden
~30-35 there aren't many events that give a decent amount of exp without doing the endurance races. After 35 the only thing you can really do are 24 hour races. I think it takes about 12 to go from 35-40.
Edit: A-spec and b-spec require the same amount of exp per level.
A spec takes just as long, really. Whats up with the Japanese and grinds lately. :/
tell me about it, i went from 15 to 25 because of the special events because i didn't get to play much and i trying to find the time just to get to 30 (im 27 now) i wish i had the time to do at least one of the endurance races just so i can get to 30 and get my X1
I normally hate using these "everyone I know did X" tropes, but seriously, every single person I know who bought this game quit it immediately after earining the X1.
Their reasons? "The game's just not fun to actually play. There's no more sense of accomplishment." My dream is that Codemasters performed the Fusion dance with the guys making Shift 2. I want my fun back in Racing Games. Shit makes me miss Grid and NFS:U; rubber-band AI and all in the latter.
I dunno, I fell in love with GT 1 when it first came out on ps1. Since then I haven't really played much else in terms of racing games, NFS:HS, a bit of gt2 and 3, and then prologue.
It's still relatively fresh to me, and I never got all that amazing (except when I was tripping, I dunno what it is but something about acid makes you fucking ridiculously good at racing games) so everything's still fairly challenging.
I also have a bit of a unique style. When GT1 came out the thing that really separated it from every other racing game was the realistic feel of drifting in different cars. (you can thank gt1 for the whole tokyo drift era, really) So, I tend to focus less on figuring out the perfect line and driving like a real race car driver would in favor of flinging myself around the track and hoping I stay in control enough to win lol. It's not like full on project gotham style, but if I can find a good line to drift and stay at the limit's edge, I definitely always do.
I may never be all that good with the awd and ff stuff, but in a mr I'll freaking tear some shit up ;p
Makes the top gear track kind of suck for me lol >< Go karts are hard as fuck too.
