Also, the used car shop is awesome in this one. My first car was a go kart, and then I did some license tests, then bought a used MR2 for like 25k. Shit dominated everything in beginner and the couple races I could get it into in intermediate without any mods whatsoever lol.

I still love gt5 and will continue to play it to death. I find it to be a lot of fun just to hop in a car in my garage and take it to Nurburgring and find a good setup for it. I never played any of the sim style driving games for sense of accomplishment or progression...I just love driving and cars. I guess I'm part of the niche market they made this game for

I'm waiting for my DFGT to come that I just ordered - and I know I'll be hopelessly addicted when I get it, I've only ever played GT/Forza games with a controller.

Same, although I do get into the license tests and a-spec stuff now and try to beat it.

The vast majority of my time in GT1 was spent in the 67 corvette mastering the ever loving shit out of drifting as much of the high-speed ring as humanly possible, also wondering why the high speed ring wasn't a ring at all.

So I was looking for a bit of rally info, not sure what to do with my suspension and whatnot. I kept finding forum threads about "how do I beat xxx rally challenge."

I swear 99% of the responses were as follows:

Turn off ALL driving assist. Here's my settings:
    blah blah blah off
    skid recover on
    blah blah off
    ... /facepalm

anyway, how low do you guys usually go for rally stuff? and what about spring rate?

You're talking about the SS ones right not the sebastian loeb? they're not hard at all w/ all assists off w/ skid recovery on. I kept my settings at default w/ the exception of my gear ratios which i've adjusted accordingly, snow/dirt being more towards acceleration and tarmac more towards speed.

I recommend tackling the sebastian loeb challenge w/ all golds and use the reward car before you do intermidiate/advanced SS rallies, makes your life much easier.

using skid recovery defeats the entire purpose of playing gran turismo, I mentioned that cuz it's ridiculous for that to be people's strategy heh

I'm just asking in general how people are tuning their suspensions for rally, I've had no problem with beating the beginner and intermediate rallies with a lancia, but I definitely feel like I could get more performance if I understood rally tuning

I'm only lv 18 or 19 so no advanced one yet, the sebastian loeb ones are freaking hard tho lol

I still need to finish that Loeb Rally Special Event. One of the races had me feeling more like i was controlling a downhill fall then driving.

I didnt play with the suspension at all for rally. I just turned off all assists except abs 1. For the harder rally challenge, either wait til after the SL challenge, or pick up a Lancer/WRX. I used the Delta also and it just didn't cut it on the last set. Once you get a car w/ decent power, it's easy.

For the SL challenge, you have be real smooth. don't drift too much, try to keep the car going straight. There is a long steep downhill stretch that messed me up too for a while, you have to make sure you are not sideways at all when you brake.. otherwise it is spin city.

The delta I have is really pretty awesome, it's the straight up normal one from dealership, tuned to keep the power exactly where it needs to be, with good weight reduction, aero kit, etc.

Remember that the first 2 sets of rally challenges are restricted to 245 and 345 hp.

What's sad is the one I'm having the hardest time golding is the tarmac one lol. Been experimenting a bit with normal cars on it heh. I tried it with a pimped out tommykaira, shit was hilarious. I'd make up like 5 seconds on a long straight then lose 20 seconds smashing into shit at the end of it rofl.

btw, should I buy a ferrari for the ferrari challenge or will I get a decent one as a reward sometime? I already have a completely pimped Gallardo that's like just short of an f1 car lol, so I don't really want to invest a bunch in a ferrari if I don't need to.

    also, Veyron is teh <3

Has all reward cars so you can plan out what you will need to purchase and what you won't.

Patch is fucking amazing though tbh. Also the online store refreshed today, and has a lot more cars now than before as well.

Anybody that wants to share some cars pm me, I already have umm Aki and one other person that plays on psn I think.

I'll have to check the changes to the X1 challenge. Hopefully those times are a bit more attainable.

Edit: Just noticed in the notes that individual gear ratios can finally be adjusted. Thank god.

I liked GT5... but yeah, once I got the X1 (or X2010 as they want to call it), I was like.. "Hey, I sort of beat the game.. alright!" and stopped playing. Friends stopped too, really. I may come back at some point to hit this patch and what not, and check some changes out, though.

Wow rofl. The new AI has a hell of a time with the Eifel track. I'm doing the newest seasonal event where you are in an RX-7, and the last three cars spin out in the first 3 turns. The AI has similar difficulties with other turns as well.

Edit: Another nice feature they added to the used car dealership and online dealership is an indicator if you already own that car.

About fucking time. I was sick of thinking "Do I own that car already..?" since some are named very similarly.

Eifel has a lot of off-camber turns which means the car is leaning one way and turning another. The AI just can't adapt fast enough to those sudden changes which is cool because humans have that same issue.

Also finally got my X1 now that the bronze time is a little more reasonable.
