Dude was right. I turned it up to 4 (starts at 0, range is -2 to +7), and instantly on Suzuka I went from not even close on times to hitting the marks, simply because I could flat out turn more than I could before.

Now I just gotta stay on the track for 2 straight laps and I totally got this lol. Wish I would have realized this during the other 2.
Wow... It makes perfect sense now why the x1 was better w/ a wheel. Gonna see if i can try that tonight and practice the x1 events again. Thanks!

I barely have space/proper table to put the wheel so it kinda sucks for me in the sense that i'm still stuck using a controller. Any recommendations for a 30" table tjat is stable enough on tile floor for the wheel to stay put?

Is it me or do b-spec drivers cheat with their insane strength? Decided to toss my friend's X1 at my driver for shits and giggles, and saw that the wheel would sometimes spaz from being halfway turned to the right, instantly swap to the left, and then back. Wish I could turn that fast.

Kazunori Yamauchi confirmed via Twitter early this morning that “game saves during endurance races” are currently “under development” for Gran Turismo 5. Here’s a translation of the tweet kindly provided by our own Shirakawa Akira:
I’m sorry. Game saves during endurances. They are currently under development. RT @andrepeniche: as I simply don’t have 4, 9 or even 24 hours available to stay in front of the TV to do endurance races, as much as I love GT5, unfortunately it’s not possible for me to complete them.
Since our GT5 Feedback Forum launched, this has been the most-wanted feature in the game among GTPlanet’s community, having received over 8,500 votes. It’s great to see that Kazunori and his team at Polyphony Digital are responding the request, though it is not yet clear if this will be implemented in the next immediate game update or sometime later. Stay tuned for more, and thanks to all who sent this in!

Ugh, just finished the 24 hours of Nurburgring. Got my 24 level ticket car for completing the endurance series, got a FGT instead of a Ferrari F1 Wanted a Ferrari so I could do the seasonal events for it, now I'll have to waste a load of money on it.

Edit: at least the color on it is better than the blue that the UCD gives (not online dealership, used). Yellow with black trim.

Edit 2: God damn it, can't sell the FGT either. You can buy it, but not sell it

eliseos and plow whats ur PSN? i was gonna do some races and i wanted as many bobs as i can get lol

im really glad they're planning on adding saves during endurance, like above "nice" fuck yea etc..

decided to do some licenses i haven't golded, and all i gotta say is fuck IC-10.. seriously that shit was the biggest pain in my ass. i had to change my driver settings 5 times before i finally got the hang of it and learned where i needed to go really fast around corners to catch up.

and theres something about the X1 that i cant grasp, no matter how many times i watch the example to learn the breaking points i will never be able to turn as precise as i should be able to, i either turn that little too much and it kicks me into the grass or i brake too much and loose all my speed. and i noticed that about the controller sensitivity too, after i turned it up to 4 i was doing way better but i think i need to raise that shit and just practice with it since i think thats what my problem is.

    mine's Timmaw

are you talking about for gold or bronze? the example videos are fairly useless if you're just trying for bronze, or at least they were for me, there was no way in hell I could do most of that shit, but bronze is like 15 seconds behind gold so you can take a fairly different approach

I tried putting mine on 7 and it was a bit too much, so I went back to 4. May crank it up to 5 or 6 if I have trouble with suzuka, I haven't played today tho. But yeah it's crazy how I was like wtf, I try to do stuff like the examples and youtube videos and just slide off the other side of the road lol, never even occurred to me that it might just flat out not be letting me turn as far.

I had even wondered to myself how the sensitivity would work, like if it would just scale up faster or what, cuz I figured the max amounts of turn would have to still be the same.

edit: also something else that might help: I'm a bumper cam person, but for nurburgring I went with hood cam just to be able to see the big S more easily, and I'm sticking with it for suzuka, it's a huge improvement in terms of visibility around elevation changes

My PSN is pdepratt. Feel free to use my driver as much as you want, he's only about halfway to filling up his career bar. He's level 38, I don't know if that will increase/decrease exp for other drivers or keep it the same. I think he has about 250 b-spec "days" left, or 250 races, before it fills up and that trophy unlocks for me.

And about the X1 challenge, I tried doing Monza for an hour or so the other day. Best I could do was about 2 seconds slower than bronze, no idea where or how to make up extra time anywhere. I could see the ghost for most of the laps, it didn't really leave my screen until the last section with the straight -> gradual turn -> final straight section. No idea how I'll ever even silver these events

Best advice I can give for the X1 challenge is to watch the example on whatever corners you are struggling with and mimic the line. If you're close, like within 2 seconds, you're probably screwing up just one or two corners and the example isn't perfect by any means just fast. So try to mimic that line and you'll be ok.

Its probably that last gradual corner before the main straight that I'm having issues with. It never feels smooth nor fast, and thats about when I notice the biggest jump in gap. Ill take a look at vettels line, and see where I'm going wrong.

Just going to give some random monza advice since you said you have no idea where:

First, cut the shit out of the 2nd chicane. You can get near a second, potentially even more if you're really good at taking it crazy fast, over anything "legit" by cutting that one.

Second, practice those 2 corners right after the 2nd chicane. On the run where I bronzed it I actually didn't need to push myself there cuz I'd gotten so much better at a few other parts, but just focusing on how to do those 2 got me a lot closer to clearing it beforehand.

For the first one, you can get into the corner then brake really hard, then basically floor it again as soon as you see the straight, it's not a real harsh turn. For the 2nd one, you want to brake really late, but still before you're actually in the corner. I found it most effective to basically be full on braking through the turn, then, again, hit it hard as soon as you can see the exit line.

The other spot where you can pick up major time if you're doing it wrong is in the big S near the end. The demos, and all the videos for golding it, people just go absolutely flat out through it. I couldn't get that fast, but when I was getting pretty decent I was whipping through there around 170-190 mph.

Oh, and for that very last turn before the front straight, I actually used the driving line. You can slam on the brakes almost exactly where it tells you to (maybe start just the tiniest bit into the red), and you can let off and floor it as soon as the red ends.

For those of you that are leveling b-spec high, a bit of advice:

Use the arrow indicator wisely. There's blue up, green normal, and orange down. That's how much exp they'll get for doing a race at that point, i.e. racing with the blue will get you extra exp over normal, with the orange you'll get less.

Taking advantage of that stuff I've got 6 drivers all over level 25, and I think 3 of them are 29, and I just hit level 30 bspec.

But, don't really worry about that until you get to the races where you can use multiple drivers, because they level retardedly fast in those races.

im pretty sure those arrows mean fatigue, blue meaning 100% and orange meaning >25%

so i tried doing the X1 challenge again with my sensitivity at 7 and holy shit i can actually do it now lol, i just need to learn how to drive the thing to its full potential without spinning out in the dirt.

and Plow i noticed your using a controller too, and if your really broke like i am then you should invest in these things called speed freeks and for 10 bucks you will probably love them as much as i do. ever try racing and your trying to make an S turn but your finger is slipping? im pretty sure with out these i wouldn't of gotten some golds on the license tests and even some of the rally events because of how well i can hold a corner after i got these. i can play for longer just because im not trying to focus on where my finger has to be so it doesn't slip off the controller while making a small adjustment in turning.

    omg I beat it, finally

just did 300 mph while lapping the entire field in the 5 lap indy for like the wind...

I am going to run more Indy 500's than all Andrettis combined.

And yeah, I looked at those thingies (I actually read this entire thread throughout last week lol >.>), but really that's not an issue I have.

The thing about running at 7 is like... you know the back stretch at suzuka? that last little curve, you take it full out at full throttle even after that longass straight. At 4/5 you basically reach a certain point then slam the stick all the way rather suddenly. At 7, you do the same, except you have to manage it well enough to only slam it like 85% of the way lol. I ended up doing it at 5, and I beat the bronze time on suzuka by over 3 seconds when I finally got a solid run.

I am actually thinking that eventually, with practice, I can probably get it down at 7 and be able to try golding them, which means this game may actually be reasonably platinum-able with a controller for me, yay ^^

For the arrow thingies, I guess what I'm saying is I'm pretty sure the individual driver's exp is affected by it. If they're rearing to go, individually they'll get more exp, it seems. I actually had my main driver higher level than my b-spec a few times lol.

For the arrow thing on the drivers, what makes it go back to normal? Do I need to grind races with another racer, or wait an RL day or two?

yep, if your driver is on a 'down arrow' he's fatigued...use another dude until his arrow is back even again.

I'll have to watch a few videos for the Monza lap to see where my line is good and not so good, and I'll try those tips Plow.

Probably going to finish off golding the remaining license tests I have left, then working on finishing off gold on the Nurburgring special events. Spent most of today spamming the Tsukuba track of the Sunday cup to boost my b-spec drivers experience bar. About 2/3 of the way now to the Air of Experience trophy lol. Shit takes forever. Tip for b-spec, don't let a driver hit 40 until you get it. Takes about 500 b-spec "days" (or one b-spec race) for that bar to fill. All of your active drivers get the day count, no matter if they race in the event or whether you bring them to the event or not. You should be well over half-way if your manager level hits 40. Just swap to a different driver if your main is close to 40.
