    haha

Being serious though, the game looks really fun but I don't have a PSP and don't see myself shelling out the cash for one. Maybe there's an emulator or something.

No working PSP emulators to my knowledge... you'll just have to pass on this one.

Several working PSP emulators, they're still in early stages though, so "working" is a loose term.

So they work but don't work..?
    I'd say that's not working.

Pretty sure one of them can run Bubble Bobble. What more do you need?

Can't hate, Bubble Bobble is one of my favorite old-school games.
But on the real, being able to run homebrew and running most games at 15fps or less isn't 'working' from the perspective of someone who wants to play Ys 7 on the emulator.

Coming from a dev's perspective that is 'working' but still in progress but I think we can both see that the view from a dev's perspective is completely irrelevant to this discussion.

No PSP emulator can run this, but most Ys games are on PC and are also fun as fuck.

Ys7 is incredibly different than every other Ys game ever released though(besides oddballs like Ys: Strategy and Ys: The typing).

So liking/not liking the others isn't gonna be meaningful as to whether you'd like/not like 7.

Do the Ys games usually have decent amount of replayability or endgame content? I always wanted to try them out, but I remember one of them being pretty short from what I read. They look pretty fun, though, so might try this one out regardless if it's short or not.

No, they have absolutely no replayability in terms of endgame content and such you'd think of in terms of other rpgs.

The only replayability is in either doing harder modes, or score/time attack/boss rush.

Ys is and always has been a very aracde style RPG, the games are about mastery more than stat grinding, that's a big part of why they don't appeal to typical RPG gamers.

Decided to take a break from Tales and ended up raging at the first boss after killing me like 10 times on Maniac, lol. Guess I'll stick with Hard mode for now. Why you gotta be so damn squishy Adol?

And yeah, Ys Seven seems to play very differently to the other Ys games, although I've only played through 6 in its entirety, I messed about very briefly in a couple of other ones and they all played similarly. I personally prefer how Seven plays, but long term fans of the series might not like the changes. I'd still say it's worth checking out the older ones too though, some of the bosses are very well designed, I just find the regular enemies get a little tedious sometimes. Story actually has carry overs too, unlike games like FF where they're essentially completely unrelated.

I was always interested in the series, it was just the length I had problem with. I hate when a game barely lasts me a 5 days at the price of 40-60+ I was checking this out a bit more and gameplay looks different than last ones I saw, it looks like alot of fun actually. Also seems this is one of the longer Ys games, seeing around 40 hours playing on hard, doing all side-quests, and maxing all characters, and I think there's synthesis. So yea, will pick this up probably when I pick up KH: BbS or PSP2, but if I do that I might forget about Ys and never end up playing it till like November.
