Buy the accessories that stop you from gaining exp if you want to keep the game challenging (and, of course, keep your gambits small). I believe I ended up finishing it at around Lv.25 and that shit was tough, but so goddamn satisfying.
Wow, condemning a game because it gives you the option to setup a way to make playing it easier, that you do not have to use, nor do you miss out on or lose anything for choosing not to do it that way is just silly. FFXII is far from my favorite in the series but that is a lame reason to discredit it. There is plenty of challenge in it if decide you want there to be.
FF7 sucks dick, you can just use W-Item to give yourself infinite Megalixers. Tactics is fucking TARABLE too, Calculator is worse than the holocaust.
Because my internet keeps dying I finally took the time to beat this went from Giruvegan to Bahamut in 6 hours~ going to start up again and finish the hunts
Lol, BRP is a classic.
I would love it if they continue to have the guild hunts in the future. It was a nice way to kind of force you to explore. I loved that they put it in Last Remnant too. It's just a good way to pump in a few more hours of gameplay where most of us would have probably stopped after beating it. And let's be honest, some of those fights are damn challenging. I loved the system, hope they keep it.
TARABLE? >_>
I agree. It was a great way to add some challenge before end-game in there. Aside from a couple story bosses there wasn't really anything like that in early FF's and all you had was grinding/story until you unlocked the weapon fights in FF7 (my most recent replayed FF hence my example) whereas in 12 you could find some decently challenging stuff throughout the entire way.
Anyway i just downloaded the rom, and what is the tip you can give to any player starting for the first time, with the board.
Aka dont unlock all weapon and armor on each character?
Anything else really important to help start?
Focus mostly on going SW on the top part of the board. Only unlock armor/weapons as you get them available to you. Some of the special abilities (SE section) are really nice, make sure someone has Libra and Charge and a few others are key once you can buy/find them.
Get the damage taken/given returns mp as soon as you can. Otherwise it's really not a big deal, how difficult it is from then on depends on how much you grind and how you set up your gambits. If you want a bit of a challenge, only setup minimal gambits like assists.
Also i think i should go like this finally doing jobs, but everyone with white magic, will be easier. i guess
Like Vaan Dagger + Light Armor
Ashe : Sword + Heavy armor
Penelo : Mystic Armor + Staff
Balflear Gun + Light armor
Frann Bow + light armor
Baash GKT + Heavy armor
i see
So my chars are level18 and I 1shotted the judge on levi with 1, 2person quickening lol.
On my way to get some demonsbanes woooooo
I always leave Ashe as the mage type character in my game. Her Agility is so high that with Masamune and Genji Gloves she can pretty much triple attack every round. Not to mention when you get her high enough she has enough strength to high for 9999 each swing so its a great damage source in addition to MP collection.
Genji Gloves + Masamune + ashe = Full MP while dropping Curaja's, Arises and whatever almost nonstop.
As for where to go on the license board early.... focus on moving in the southwestern direction on the augment board. Pick up all the Swiftness and Battle Lore's you can, and try to hit the 500 HP one asap (its 155 LP, you'll find it). Going in the direction will make your characters beasts early on. Of course you should aim to get quickenings early, but they are far from needed, I only used them once and that was against the first demon wall in Raithwalls tomb where you need a quick 10,000 to kill it - but this was an optional fight.
Never finished the game for the same reason as many, but this thread makes me want to try it out again...
Playing through this game atm as well. I'm just a bit past king raithwalls tomb, doing some hunts before I move on with the story. Just did wyvern lord and got a bunch more to do. I'm pretty much doing the exact same with Ashe being my caster/melee hybrid.
I rarely use quickenings. I'm a bit of a fan of reflecting my party and bouncing aero/dark off so Vaan/Basch have those spells and a little bit of magic potency. (I've already gotten those guys all of the battle lores and HP+. I'm lv.~28 I think.)
