DS games for a 3 yr old?

so my daughter is loving the DS but doesn't quite know how to use anything other then the chat program that comes with the DS, she likes to draw random shit and send it along to whatever other DS might be in the channel with her, usually mom or me.

we've looked at several games that might be decent but nothing we can find is simple enough for her.

    any suggestions?

Kids that age pretty much love any basic platformer (Mario/Wario) which has little text and gets to the action right away.

Nintendogs might be an option too, but you might have to help her initially... I'd say it's more of a 5-6 year old kind of game

Cooking mama is easy and fun. My daughter loved it when she was younger.

she doesn't quite have the grasp of controlling a character let along timing jumps with pits/holes/mobs so i'm not sure if she will be able to get mario but will certainly try

will also look into cooking mama

My 3 yr old nephew loves the Mario Party game, but he doesn't really do anything but mash the keypad

I would say Scribblenauts, but I think it might be too complicated for someone thats younger. Prof.Layton & the Curious Village is a good puzzle game too, but again I don't know how it would be for someone younger. I think the platforming games would be best, new super mario bros or something like that. Oh, and cooking mama is a ton of fun >_> I'm sure if they get into it that they'll enjoy it.

It's more just about pushing the buttons and seeing things happen as a result of your actions at that age honestly

cooking mama is a good one too, gj miz

Nintendogs? She might be a little young for it. I bought a gameboy like device last year for my nieces 4th birthday. I forget its name but it was held like a PSP and it was green and you could put in games meant for kids in the 3-7 age group. I bought her a Dora the Explorer, Franklin and a frogger-esque game. Shes really taken to all of them.

I think I bought it at Toys'r'us and I think I saw it again at Mastermind. Its great and its meant to be able to withstand drops and whatever have you - unlike a DS.

i think u are reffering to the leapfrog system but i might be wrong, i was looking into that and tho it might be geared for kids that age i can't really relate to it since i want to have some kind of interaction with her as she is playing the games

however i will look into it a little more and see what it has to offer outside of just being a gimmicky kids system

My little cousin used to play a Dora the Explorer game nonstop on her DS. It was mostly stylus control iirc, she loved it. Also, the Littlest Pet Shop games were a big hit with them, last Christmas I got her one and she sat quietly and played it the entire day @.@ I was shocked lol.

Cooking mama would probably give her nightmares if she gets the flamey eyed angry review. I'd probably go with Nintendogs.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

my boss's 3 year old comes with her to work a lot and he likes to mess on my DS. I second the mario thing, all he does is make mario jump up and down but he fucking loves it. he also does the picto chat thing XD

Makes one wonder where all the 'toy' DS games are at. The ones with no objectives, where you just mess about and see what happens.

Majority of the stuff mentioned here are for at least 6 years of age and up.

I had to show a 2 year old recently how to play Wii Sports Resort, and that game is extremely basic, and even he had trouble grasping basic concepts.
(although he still had a hell of a time getting closer and closer to my HDTV playing the sword play game, swinging the controller madly >.> )

Button/Stylus-based actions will require an older kid unless that's one smart cookie you got there.

The Legendary Starfy would be a good pick. It's a platformer, but its also dead easy, so I think your daughter wouldn't have much trouble with it, at least in the earlier bits.
