Epic ass table breakers of the beautiful things geeks do when you let them play with supercomputers.

The distribution of Galaxies through the Universe, the purple dots are clusters galaxies, the filaments are made of superclusters of galaxies.

I don't even begin to know where to start explaining the scales where you need terms like 500 Mpc/h to describe them, except to say that the nearest start is just over a parsec away (pc, 3.6~ Light Years roughly).

Take that structure from the last picture, and try to figure out how it is distributed in three dimensions... having a little trouble? Maybe this huge ass picture will help. Damn near as big as the Universe itself...

I kid, but only a little, seriously, HUGE.

That was from one of DUI arrests, if I remember correctly. Someone took the picture and then a few hours later he was arrested I think.
