Not yet, but there's been some apps on windows machines which use CUDA (Nvidia's technology, similar to OpenCL in that it is also able to offload tasks to the GPU) which is able to greatly speed up the encoding time. I reckon the next big patch to Final Cut Studio will add OpenCL, probably some time mid to late next year..

I added the printers again manually. It seems when they were transferred from Tiger the new OS didn't accept the drivers for some reason. But when I added them in SL they worked.

Crashing or anything? Nah, though it's frustrating me that you can't log and capture straight into ProRes 422 (Proxy). You have to import into ProRes 422, out through compressor into Proxy and then back into FCP. Anger!

What sorta problems are you having? I can see if I'm able to replicate them.

My BC partition is fine, but one minor gripe: after updating to the latest drivers, my HFS partition now shows up (as it should, the new driver package adds HFS read support) and I have two optical drives showing up in Windows for some reason. Normally this wouldn't bother me, but it fucked up the drive-lettering such that I had to rebuild my windows itunes playlist :\

    *bump*

Just picked this up the other day from an Apple store, and I have to say, I'm disappointed so far. Why? The hardware in my MacBook Pro is capable of the 64-bit kernal and OpenCL functionality, yet Apple has neglected to actually support them for it. 9400m GPU MacBook models and up only, even though my 8600m has the hardware needed for the technology.

Was looking forward to decoding videos via my GPU for lowering the general heat output this laptop creates, but no go. Hoping they'll get their head out of their asses and support the 2007 Macbook Pro models.

Otherwise, I've not seen much that this has to offer me other than slight speed improvements, and saving me 7gb of disc space, which I'm assuming has to be it deleting a lot of drivers or something that Leopard had on that are past their prime now.

Guess I can't really complain given it was only $35, but I still feel like I got the short-end of the stick just because I picked up my machine a week after Leopard came out, before the multi-touch MacBooks came out 5 months later. I'd have figured they'd still give my machine the full support it's capable of with SL. It may as well have just been a service pack as far as I'm concerned for what *I* received from the upgrade.

[EDIT] Wtf, they removed the battery-select mode under the Battery menu yet again that they killed off in 10.5.4 and brought back in 10.5.6. -.-
