Thread: Iphone error while updating 3.01    

Today I tried to update the iphone 3G 8GB to 3.01 but for some reason I got the error. I didn't note down whats the number of the error at that time. So I waited a bit till the screen shows to connect to the itunes. Tried that, tried to restore and now I got error 1603. Clicked on more information, tried all the steps except using new computers to update and I still failed on that. Checked few iphone forum, tried taking out the sim card still won't work. Not sure what is DFU so I haven't tried that yet.

Plus;

- tried different USB
- restarted the PC
- disable/enable apple device in services (windows vista 32 bit sp2)
- disable/enable on apple device in device manager - USB
- uninstall/reinstall itunes
- reset sync history

Now I'm heading out to my friend house to borrow his computer and see if I can get this fix. If any of you knows how to fix this, please help me. I really appreciate this and thanks!

Thanks for reply. I just asked some of my friend who also have iphone, he said try to install it on new itunes account. So I tried to make another user account on the same laptop I have and try to restore from itunes, it works! I'm just worried if my contacts are all gone because of that

you will have all your contacts as recent from the last backup that you did on your computer.
