Find a good Chanter or Cleric (well, anyone really, I duo'd with a Sorc a ton) to duo with Arus, makes Gladiator SOOOOOOO much better. Bandages & Potions are your friend

Conceptually I have no problem with either plan, just requires the availability of someone willing to heal, or the cash to throw at potions. Oddly enough, I don't seem to be raking in the Kinah like I've seen Pooky talking about in the other big thread.

Think at some point last night I had around 40k. Expanded my cube, knocking off ~12k, updated my skills from like 10-13, taking another 10k or so, and then just fucked around skilling Alchemy to 50 under the idea I'd be making myself potions on the cheap. Oh yeah, and accidentally teleporting to the wrong region blew about 4k. Think I'm sitting under 5k now, but can't really do much in part due to beta lag and having some things to do with my LS in XI.

Before OB, I never considered playing rng. I thought it'd be boring and slow to shoot/run/shoot, but oh man am I glad I tried it in OB. One of the few times I actually fell in love with a job. Like I said in the other post, it's similar to soloing as rdm in ffxi, but with arrows instead of dot spells.

I know other jobs can probably do the same, but I never felt confident enough to try without a healer. I started duoing with a friend who got left behind in the krall quests. I was lv22 rng and he was 18 SM. It was pretty fun, hardly ever got a resist on the entangling shot. I was able to do all of the krall stuff except killing Seer since it's a mage and I cant kite that >.>; Was even able to practically solo Tambuku.

I'm definitely going rng on release, thanks to playing around in the OB :D

Glad also has AoE attacks, which Templar seemingly does not.
This really isn't a question of Gladiator's DD capabilities, of course they can do that and probably way better, they are suppose to. Templar's are pure tanks, the fact that that guy is soloing with that much damage is just ridiculous and shows a lot of potential in some better hate hoarding.

So I've been trying out templar in OB and I'm liking it but can't decide on going templar, assassin, or gladiator. I'll most likely be duoing 90% of the time. Any idea which would be best for duoing?

I've been loving chanter w/ staff, it's like a glad w/ heals lol. If there was more for them that made them unique I think I'd play that instead of templar. Too bad they are kinda like rdm w/o refresh or much CC...

I think Gladiator + chanter is the best duo. Maybe an evasion assassin if they can hold hate off of the healer, idk.

Also, chanter does get some mp restore stuff, but meh.

why does the assassin have to hold hate? chanter is alot better at taking hits then an assassin is, it'd be prefered for the chanter to have hate when possible and self cure

Sin skills are available when evading an attack.

I did chanter in OB too, so far it's cool for PvE but in PvP it's complete trash if you're not in a group, trying to do enough dmg is...not going to happen in a situation outside of a duel, atleast at these levels

I can't speak much for Assassin, but Templar and Gladiator are both good duoing partners with either of the healer classes. Just pick up a two-hander if you go Templar, and either class can dish out the damage to plow through mobs. Just a heal every now and then will keep them truckin'.

    Also, the Samalis I know?

Play Ranger, funny as hell for solo ganking chinese bots. Grinded about 1.5k off of one tonight before the bot's owner (HIIIIIIIIIIGH Lv. Templar, was wearing the armor from the character creation screen) came & beat my face in lol.

I guess a chanter can tank fine, but you'd lose overall speed with possible downtime. If an assassin can both evade most hits and keep hate, you'd be non stop.

i'm loving gladiator and will probably play it on release, however is ranger like the log-ranged equivalent? with gladiator i can pretty much kill anything with 2 ability rounds that i do, is ranger that "zerg" like too? i've been contemplating trying it but im retrying sorc atm and yeah it's scarily powerful lol.

Why do most vids show glad with GS instead of Polearm? or at least the few i've watched do. I got the feeling polearm was going to be more dps over time?

I am loving Chanter PvP. >_> I have not lost one duel yet in the OB and unless I have 3-5 on 1 in the coliseum, I am pretty invincible. I don't want to get back into the bard thing though in another game... I will probably take chanter up as my 2nd 50.

from what i can gather, polearms have a wider range of dmg (like 111~150 for example) and lower delay, but more crit chance, and gsword will have like 130~150 attack and like more parry on it (or maybe that's polearm). its just little differences afaik.

Polearms have a higher range of damage, more critical (50 compared to Greatswords 10), are slower and are a 4 strike weapon.

Greatswords have more average damage, lower crit, but higher parry and accuracy.

Where a level 50 greatsword might have like 308-324 damage, a level 50 polearm would have 235-437. Greatsword will have like 40 more parry and 100 more accuracy.
