At least assassins can sneak around around and put up good spike damage and stuns. Gladiator sucks to play alone. I play it alone all the time and it blows. It's a steady, solid, job, but it doesn't have any particularly impressive aspects until you get higher level. At 41 I'm starting to become stout enough to deal with a barrage and dish it out. I can't survive as long as a templar, I can't deal as much damageas other DPS and I need a team to really thrive. Glad just isn't an easy job to play right now and feel the satisfaction of excellence in any particular way.

If you're not a ranged damage dealer, then you're at a huge disadvantage in the Abyss. I would have rolled a ranger if i knew i would enjoy PVP as much as i have, (1st pvp game).

Koreans aren't dealing with the PvP damage reduction, either. Besides, no class should have to level to 50 before it becomes fun(ctional).

Cleric : I have nothing against healers, just that the Thunderbolt skill causes my screen to flash and that poses a health hazard for me. (I had the same problem in FF11, had to turn off skills because Mythic WSes in meripos were flashing the damn screen all the time) Can you turn off the skill graphics (I don't see that option in game) or not use the skill? If not, Cleric is probably out. If not, I would consider it.

You can turn off skill animations like Thunderbolt, it's in the options. Full Screen Effects, or something like that.

Hell, floating around the Aion boards once, someone tried to suggest a Gladiator practically one-shotted a group grinding in Indratu when it was really his sorc buddy hiding in the back that popped his DP move. If the AV video's taught us anything, people will see what they want to and ignore the rest.

How do Clerics fare? Just heal themselves until the other guy gives up? (BTW, good to know I'm not the only person that finds the screen flash from Thunderbolt intolerable)

Maybe I'll roll a Sorc or Ranger until the 1.8 patch with the fabled land of "ground Abyss"...

Clerics pack quite a punch, while being very hard to kill. Good class for everything.

Clerics fare just as badly as anyone else when hit with one of the rape train CCs (Stun, Knockdown, Fear, Aether's Hold, etc.).

Gladiators are free AP. Assassins are free AP in the abyss, or while rifting once you have the M.Resist to avoid their Aether's Hold. We don't have the burst DPS to kill Templars or other Clerics. Chanters are free AP until they start wearing Fenris. Ranger, Sorc, and SM rape everybody.

2 days ago I was outside Jaiparan(sp) village in Heiron and as usual there was a group of 6 Asmo farming the guards, they where all 43-45 so me going in as a level 39 would have been suicide. I shouted in /1 to warn/inform people that there was an Asmo group there.
A few seconds later a level 50 SM ran bang in the middle of the party and unleashed hell, he killed 2 clerics and 2 rangers in a matter of seconds, the Templar took a little longer to go down but he went down fast enough. 1 of the clerics then re-ressed and started to res the templar while the SM was dealing with the last member... lol. As they where both getting up the SM ran back and killed them again right after killing the "run away" member.

You know a class is overpowered when they can take out groups of people in under 30 seconds without breaking it's shield.

Eh, can't say I impressed by a guy presumably pimped out in the best possible shit surprising some people in the low-40s who are probably wearing gear from the 30s because shit sucks. Plus I have no idea if they have the damage reduction applied there since I can't read squiggle.

Which aggro 50s anyway as I recall. At least, the turtles do.
