If the Rdm/Nin were to cast an ichi spell on Slave 1, MG wouldn't detect it as magic and would not aggro right? Would be a fairly long cast however.
why not just use a pebble or a bow?
to alex on the prior page, when SG1 was graved, were SG2 to 6 staying behind with SG1 or did they keep pace with MG? it sounds like you followed what we'd worked out to the letter, but something went wrong, i'm not rightly sure where.
cant use a bow or ninjutsu we tried it at first MG seems to link the SG on sight? not sure... anyway the other SGs dont follow fast they take time to catch up just be patient with SG 1 and they will come and follow it.
From what i could tell they were following SG#1 until my bud stuck bind on it and then they strolled right past it and continued on to follow MG.We could have tagged the wrong one with the confusion of the other group coming in and watching us but im pretty sure we hit the right one. Like i said maybe another trial and error later tonight or next couple of days.
so yeh was doing this again today with a different friend worked just as well only problem is when we got to 80% a pt full of 4 blm + 2 rdm came and watched as we got it to 20% they killed the SGs with Ga and wiped my friend i then called a GM to ask whether it was MPK during this time they wiped somehow to MG lol... but yeh just GM said it wasnt MPK coz it was in game mechanics but he agreed that it was justice for them wiping, but anyway only flaw in this tactic.
Lol hmm, I'll normally call someone an asshole pretty quick for in-game stealing mobs or whatever but I'm really undecided here. In reality you're utilizing game mechanics to kill a NM, and all they're doing by killing slaves is forcing you to fight the NM as "intended." I guess in the end it's fair what they did, but wtf they wiped to MG with 20% left with that group lol. They could have killed it in one frickin wave of nukes.
Just go rdm/nin and blm/rdm
Sorry to bump an old ass topic, but I felt this might be relevant:
I went in as RDM/NIN ==
I ra'ed the first SG1. Made sure that MG was not looking at them.
ALL of them came with it, but ONLY that Globe attacked me.
So, then I got the bright idea to bind and gravity it and let it kill me.
It killed me and they started going back slowly.
I RR'ed and Sneaked myself past the Globes and pulled MG.
The SG's waked right past MG and the only ones that came after me were two that were in range of my magic casting,(or saw MG get attacked, it was bad luck that MG was on that side of the field again) they did NOT go back to follow MG.
I think... I think I can solo this, lol. Or that someone can if those SG's don't depop or anything.
I wish I had taken a video, it was very interesting. I was at the entrance of the area and they walked back towards the middle of the area. MG was coming around right passed the entrance, the SG's ignored her and I Magic-pulled MG. Either two SG's were in my magic casting range or they "saw" MG get attacked. But since they didn't seem to care for MG anymore and were following the first one, I am more inclined to believe they were out of my casting range.
I am going back now to test this again and just watch them to see what they do after I die.
Here's a pic of them all lined up at me:
Spoiler: show
Fucked up the pull just now
/RAed the first SG and I guess MG saw and all the SG's attacked.
But then, again, they just milled around the middle of the area and MG wandered on her own for a bit. Tried to just pull MG but died, waiting on Raise now, I am going to figure this shit out.
Edit: I got antsy, I really shoulda waited to see if the SG's Depopped or not.
Not soloable, but definitely duoable.
Had a friend help out by /RAing the Slave.
All of them came this time, including MG. I pulled MG off and ran to opposite side, while friend died.
Kited MG for a bit, Slaves eventually came back, slowly, they didn't rush me til they saw MG.
Not sure how to make the pull like I did in the beginning. Maybe just luck? Or that the first time they pop you can pull it but not twice?
This is typical Mother Globe behavior. The slaves follow one another in a linear fashion. i.e., Slave 1 follows MG, Slave 2 follows Slave 1, etc. The slaves follow at a regular pace but if Mother Globe has aggro on someone, they will link when they get close enough and then pursue that target at flee speed. The slaves do not link to eachother (although Motherglobe will link to the slaves and vice versa.) It is possible to pull slaves off individually if you're careful. I think what might have happened the first time is you pulled Slave 1 (the closest to Mother Globe) and by luck it did not link. Thus the other slaves followed that slave while not attacking you.
I suppose if you're clever, you could find a way to keep slave 1 away from Mother Globe so that they never link on. This would make a solo possible.
I believe there is similar behavior with Ul'Xzomits in sea. It's usually 1 big one followed by 2 babies which link the mother. However, every once in awhile, if you aggro the mom, the 2 babies do not aggro and just watch. Not sure if this is related.
Also, it's interesting to watch what happens if you kill the mother and the babies awaken. The begin to randomly float about.
Just wanted to note that MG does not link with the slaves.
It's kinda difficult to time it correctly, but if you start casting Bind at the last possible moment while the train is headed away from you, MG will be out of magic aggro range by the time it lands and will not attack; thus saving you from an unnecessary death.
Also, the slaves are entirely passive unless attacked, or if they come within linking range of MG while it has hate on somebody. MG only detects by sound/casting and does not link to the slaves.
