Yay I can craft onlyI pretty much do that now anyways and neglect my exping.
Thanks Elmer for the information, sounds exciting.
I kind of figured that the SEAMS account and token we use now would be used for 14 and the same registration and id would carry over also.
You can't quit something you didnt start yet.
Dont understand me wrong, I' have met some awesome JP players that have become my friends, but the fact still is that if I reply to JP salvage shouts (for example) the odds are against me, usually they pass and say they want only JP speaking people. Thats just an example but there are many more.
I'm EU and FFXI EU population is really low and died extremly down since the release of it, usually you didnt have any problem back when population was hight to find people to do something in your peak playtime, nowadays tough playing in EU peak time and getting things done is an obstacle for itself.
I realy dont want to zombie endgame (EST PST times!) and I cant speak Japanese to do endgame with them, beside the fact they are allready sleeping when I come home from work.
Mixed servers dont work well for alot of people, however if you would do region specific servers and mixed servers everything will be fine, but that's in the hands of SE. I had some friends who I convinced to start play FFXI quit shortly after just because: 1. they couldnt speak English (German speakers only) 2. even when they used auto-translater JP's usually used not to speak/communicate with you. 3. the Auto-translater is so limited that even playing with English people as a non-English speaking person is hard.
Seriously not gonna do this again with mixed servers, time will tell if they have both (hopefully).
Isn't salvage one of those 'communication is key' events? Things like that make sense, I'd rather be able to speak with someone fluenty than fuddling around with the auto translate.
Things like 'JP only' for party, yeah that can be interpreted many ways, but honestly what's the big deal? EU Linkshells tend to recruit only EU players and some of those late owl NA players, that's not different than JP people wanting to team up with other JP people, even on a mix server.
Not only does it save money, but it's good for those playing the game at various hours, always someone around to play with.
Will they play with you? Different story, but is the possibility there? Yeah. You don't like mixed servers, stop playing foreign games.
Sup instances, yay for no more DA!Free-roaming NMs with special drops are a maybe, large-scale HNM content planned for Guildleve
I think I did "NA ONRY" a lot more than I ever saw JP ONRY.
im gonna be in the minority here when i ask this, since im not really much of an MMO junky (FFXI being my only one) but what exactly is instanced? im assuming its when they teleport you somewhere with your group and you get to fight something with no interruptions? like dynamis?
just out of curiosity, did WoW have no competitive HNM scene? either way i think its cool regardless
Often it's more like Assault or Salvage where there can be many groups in the same area at the same time but can't see each other inside. So dynamis isn't really good instance because only one group can be inside at time.
There was competition among guilds, from what I've seen.
In a way like dynamis. But there could be 10 groups in dynamis at the same time, but none of them would be able to see each other. Vanilla wow had a few "hnm" type mobs where they dropped decent loot(none of the expansions really had anything that required an alliance of people to kill anymore).
Just think of it as your mog house. You can go in by yourself or bring in your group. While in there no one else can interrupt what ever you're doing.
Japanese and English players grouping together in FFXI was rare but it definately existed and it definately worked. I had a large japanese dynamis linkshell that had around 10 English speakers(killed dynamis lord several times). I had a late-night japanese/english limbus linkshell(killed proto ultima/omega non stop) I had a HNM linkshell that was half japanese and half english and we killed every hnm there is (tiamat jorm vrtra cerberus etc)
In FFXIV i really hope doing challenging endgame stuff with japanese players will be more common.
i'm thinking instanced guildleaves will be one option when it comes to more variations of armor that SE speaks of..... you may be able to get an adaberk from guildleave hnm's .... but there will monsters that free roam that drop adaberk (maybe with slightly better stats or more drops other than that piece) that walk that land. since SE said that even though casual play will grant very good items , grouping will still be the best way to obtain top-notch gear.
in general i'm thinking alot of gear will be available via instanced guildleave and free roam monsters.... both having the multiple variations that SE speaks of.
Crafting jobs are very appealing.... seems the more info we get on them the more important they are coming off as..... since both weapons and armor take permanent dmg from fights , blacksmiths and weavers will be vital to keeping your gear both high-end and low-end maintained by these "masters of the crafts."
i also like the idea of organization specific "linkshells." i'm hoping there will be organizations that you will sign for if you need and guildleave / quest / mission / or NM/HNM. kinda like an ingame forum where you don't have to /shout . you'll know who would like to participate by looking up that specific organizations members.
I rarely see people do "JP only" outside of things that require communication, which Salvage happen to rely a lot on. I were in an Einherjar shell in which the majority were JP, and they didn't mind it much at all, as they'd have someone explain the strategy we were using in both Japanese and English. Salvage is different, as they need to tell everyone who get what cell, which would take extra time to do through auto-translate.
Really, nowadays I don't see much "JP only" at all. I see more people do "English onry" purely out of spite than I see "JP Only". Sure, there is the occasional bad apple, but it is quite rare nowadays. On Quetz, almost all JP people lfg have "English/Japanese OK" in their search comment.
Yep, Salvage is really shitty event to do with people from other regions.. if only the cell names were the same in every version of the game ; ;
That's pretty wrong, there are quite a few 'HNM' in WoW they were referred to as World Spawns and there was quite a bit of competition over them. Their windows aren't predictable though so it was more like, oh it's up try to gather people and kill it. There aren't many new ones, they were mostly a vanilla wow concept for obvious reasons.
As far as segregation among languages goes, it will exist so long as things are lost in translation. Until we have a perfect translation medium, there will be segregation. Thinking it won't exist is just being ignorant for the sake of hope.
Maybe, a very few in Vanilla WoW, but there is nothing like that now. They have some named mobs that have long respawns but no one cares about them for the most part. Most (all?) can be soloed by a level 80. It's a pretty big stretch to say that person was wrong.
Saying that because there isn't a perfect translation is a reason to not have mixed servers is making the perfect the enemy of the good.
Well, maybe SE's definition of 'best' is different from yours- which is why you should skip the game this time, yeah =P.thats just a dumb argument, every company should strife to get the best out of the game, offering mixed and region specific servers would be the best. Offering only mixed servers is a guaranteed way to loose customers.
