    Mixed Servers are back

    Plus

Free-roaming NMs with special drops are a maybe. You know they'll be back too.

God. Do not want. FFXIV looks so beautiful, and the battle system and job methods intrigue me so. But having to camp against 850 people at <NM #1-91238713987123> and the same 15 or so bots are there doesn't make me a happy camper (Pun intended). Particularly since I can't wake up early and expect an empty camp. Server will be alive 24/7...ack. Yes I know, Q_Q. I hate having to camp against people only to not get the drop and continue to suffer. HOPING SE UPS DROP RATE PAST 10% ON NON-100% MOBS.

Hoping that making gil in this game isn't as insanely difficult as in FFXI for non-crafters as well. It's a given that the incoming domination of the "Repairman" craft probably making the most cash out of players wallets.

Oh well, at least the HNM's will be instanced. All of them right? Riiiiight?

FFXI isn't hard to make gil as a non crafter at all. Also don't see how the new craft race would make so much money. Its their job. Thats like a whm charging for cure.

I had high level leathercrafting since somewhat early in the games release but I made about 20x more money doing things outside of crafting to make money. I lived by Mistletoes in East Ronfarue [S], Ladybug Wing quest and just playing the markets right. I remember walking away with about 20M when it was discovered how to obtain W. Turban because I had been meriting in ToAu since release day and had amassed several thousand Imperial Standing points only to go towards Gold Coins then selling at about 500k a pop (witihin a month they went down to about 10k when I bought mine to buy the turban)

Well, sure, you could always say that about online games and their predecessors. SE made XI to see how the company would fare in the MMO industry and they did great (of course, because there are tons of people who will buy anything with Final Fantasy in the name). Being their first MMO they had a lot of things to 'learn by doing', and while they haven't quite polished their skills (I'm guessing mostly due to PS2 limitations, they can't implement a lot of the stuff they would have otherwise), they are pretty damn close to getting it right and having it go smoothly. Close, now if only they can get some better customer service support. Knowing what works and what doesn't technically and content-wise in the game is most of the battle, but certainly not all of it, and I think it's really the only thing SE is missing now when it comes to MMO: the customer service.

I'd prefer regional servers, so I'd like to at least have that option.

I very rarely partied with Japanese players (EU was more common, but still not frequent because of the differing times). Frankly, I'd rather have the potential to meet up with people who are relatively local than be able to party a little easier at 4 in the morning.

With regional servers I could end up meeting a couple of cool people in my area to hang out with. With mixed servers, we'll most likely end up on different servers. I've known some of the people in my LS nearly since release, and they meet up irl sometimes, but no one lives near me.

While trying to get a group for anything at 5am is pretty much impossible.

I'm all for the mixed servers. I would love to be able to play at 4-8am and be able to party with JPs easily.

Now before you say "WELL YOU'RE ON A CST SERVER HAHA NOOOOOB" think about what you said... CST players won't be the ONLY people playing on said server. This is true but the problem still remains a fact for me. Getting a group at 2-5am is pretty much impossible.

    Gogo mixed servers.

edit: My point is regardless if servers were based on language only there are normal hours and not normal hours. They happen to fall directly behind or ahead of one another. So regardless the majority of the people would not be on. Thus making it harder to do anything.
Using FFXI as an example, I can tell you that just because there are thousands of JPs at your odd hours doesn't mean it is going to be easier to get a party and do anything. They would rather wait an hour than invite a foreigner into the party, this is from personal experience.

Not every server is like that, though. I have JEFG listed when I seek, and I get invites from JPs all the time. I think the ones on Siren are divided though - half of them seem to be JP only, the other half seem to have fun in NA parties. Regardless, whether it be taking or giving invites, I've had just as many problems with NAs and EUs as JPs.

I'd rather have a more global server just due to the fact I don't want all 3000 people on the server camping my fucking HNM because we all live in the same time zone.

This is kinda a moot point because regardless of when an HNM pops there will always be people camping it. Some people don't sleep I swear -_-

FFXI gave integrated servers a bad name at first because for a good 2 years when the game first came out all the players were JP. When NA was released they had to deal with the NA mentality which is totally different from JP people. ( being more rude in general begging for free stuff )

It wasn't the language that the JP people hated, it was the way and style NA people played, being more greedy and such to get ahead. I hated it too when lv 5 noobs keep bugging me for gil and help for stuff that clearly an hour of effort can get it done.

Seeing as the game will be on a global release will put everyone on a level playing field.

Another thing came to mind. Bazaaring stuff to only 10% of the population when everyone is sleeping in the same timezone is the sucks.

Forgive me if this has been brought up already as I tend to lurk irregularly. I tried to do a search, but couldn't find anything directly, so I figured this thread would work. Anyway, about server names...

It seems like a minor point, but do you think they will keep the same server names as FFXI? I imagine a lot of people in big groups and small will want to continue playing together in the new game, or at the very least would like to see familiar faces. Even if the server names changed, it wouldn't be too much of a problem for people and groups that are in communication outside of the game. But what about others?

I was thinking if the server names changed, it would be kind of sad. The JP friends I played with might (and most likely would) end up going to a server different from what my NA friends chose. I'd, by and large, end up having to choose between them, which would obviously suck.

Because of this, I hope they not only keep mixed servers, but also keep the same server names.

(I saw discussion about this over at Eorzeapedia. Sadly to me, it seems most are looking forward to a name change. I tried to register and post, but I fail at reading those authentication .jpgs and exceeded the max registration tries. /slap <me>)

THERE WILL ONLY BE MIXED SERVERS, CONFIRMED. REGIONAL/TIMEZONE/LANGUAGE DIVIDED IS NOT AN OPTION. THIS CONVERSATION IS THEREFORE STUPID.

Can you stop degrading every thread into this stupid back and forth and stick to the information?

@TP: I see no reason why they wouldn't be the same. All they keep talking about is how easy they want to make the transition from XI->XIV be. Same server names would go a long way in reuniting friends that may not actively keep in touch, as most people would probably pick the same server name that they were on before.

Fuck this region server discussion. Make your own thread about it and QQ yourselves to death. Who really cares, if you don't want to party with JP people, don't. If you do, great.

Since the interview also addressed about 100 other topics, I'm going to talk about one of those that actually affects gameplay, which is vastly more important to me than wearing a KKK hat like you windowlickers:

    — By the way, in FF XI, the goal: “I would love to wear that outfit!” filled a large portion of the goal, how is it in this version?

Tanaka: You can say the same in this version. The variety of weapons and armors is drastically greater in number than FF XI.

Sundi: There is a possibility that we put contents to participate in just to acquire a certain outfit.
Now, I'm not a fashion junkie that I need to grind to wear a certain outfit, like all the mithra sitting around in wedding dresses... but I do like that they clearly state right here that there will be a ton of gear, and it will be visible on your character.
From the first interviews, many questions arose that changing your weapon>>changes your class>>gives you a default "look" for your character. I think this answer by Tanaka debunks that, your gear will be visible on your character quite clearly, and they want to have a lot more gear options than FFXI did.

They've already stated that HNMs will be guildleve battles that others can't interfere with, so this problem is more or less gone. They're considering regular NMs in the wild but I think they'll opt against them being the epic fights with the best gear.

Competition seems like it will be a lot less of a problem, thus nullifying one of the benefits of having mixed servers.

It's more like WHM charging for their teles. It's part of their job considering the spell is in their spell list, but they still charge people to use the spell.

I can totally understand why the crafters will charge to repair/make armor and the likes. They're going to be an optional class that not many people will spend time on. I'm sure there's going to be a ton of people with the same FFXI mindset; "I have to be the first, the best, the strongest or this game isn't worth my monthly subscription!" and not bother with the "minor" parts of the game, like the crafting classes. Plus, I'm sure the people that take the time to level their crafting class will spend some form of gil on leveling, and just like FFXI craft leveling, they're eventually going to want to recoup some of that.

I'm only restating what they've said. Where did they say that there will be free roaming NMs? I recall them mentioning that they might, but I interpret that as probably being lower level, lower demand NMs. Maybe your Leaping Lizzy and your Valkurm Emperor, but not your Fafnir and KB. Obviously I don't know what they'll do for a fact. Do I really need to point that out? Should I put in my sig, "o but hay guyz i dun werk 4 se lol"?

Anyway, myself along with the majority of players don't care for the bottlenecked content mechanic. Hard to get to is one thing, by all means make it as challenging as you can. But rare so that only the "dedicated" players who are willing to "work" for it can experience it? No thanks.

I highly doubt it will be like this as teleports are not necessary for a whm in any way to level up or skill up or anything it was just about convenience. However it sounded like crafters will skill or level up or whatever you want to call it on repairing armor and weapons so they will rely on others to do this. Also they will probably have to work with others in order to complete their goals. For instance imagine a crafter who has to go through a dangerous dungeon to complete a quest or something, they can't fight their way through so a group of people with different abilities fight their way through the dungeon for the crafters while the crafters repair their stuff.

If crafting will be actual jobs I am sure SE in an attempt to increase cooperation will tie them into normal groups in a way that they rely on each other just like they do with everything else.
