Hi,
I've been recently having this problem where my desktop would freeze randomly (sometimes while playing WoW or browsing the internet, sometimes idling), followed by a quick blue screen and a restart. The first time this happened I got back into Windows fine, only it said something to the extent that some data had been lost, etc; the second time, it apparently corrupted my windows profile completely, and I had to create a new one. Today, after it happened yet again, I got to the screen where it gives you various options to start the computer (safe mode, safe mode w/ networking, last known good config, normally, et al.) and the Windows loading screen that followed, only then it gave me another blue screen: something to the extent of an "unmountable boot volume." I slaved this drive on a friend's computer and ran check disk, and it basically listed out every file segment that was unreadable for a very long time. I didn't let it finish.
Is this HDD dead/dying? I've been in the habit of saving (most of) my vital information in multiple locations, but it still would be kind of a pain to completely lose everything on this HD.
Thanks for any help.
