Square-enix officially opens up TGS '09 website

I'll update post as there is more info.

    Link is here: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/tgs09/

    FFXIV is here: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/tgs09/titles/ff14/

Seems FFXI is also on the list o.o

I have limited Japanese but it seems FFXIV will have a presentation/movie only.

FFXIII will be playable I believe.

There won't be Closed Mega Theater this year.
They (probably) won't show anything new about Agito XIII, Versus XIII and The 3rd Birthday since they want to focus on FFXIII, Birth by Sleep and Dissidia Universal Tuning (demo+special video).

The list might be subject to change since FFXIV was playable at Gamescom.

The only thing i'm hoping for at TGS is a BETA release date. And possibly which quarter of 2010 they're going to release the finished game.
All of these bits and pieces of information is great and all but i won't get the information that i really want until the BETA.
Videos are nice! preferably a lengthy one showing off Many vs. Many battles.

Well there is just the SE party if they decide to have one between the TGS and E3 next year so, any new information would have to be released via magazines or the official site. At least there is no closed mega theater this year, that always annoyed me, just need elmer to take a good quality video of what they show.

There's a rumor among the jp game magazines' staff that SQEX will announce the 360 version of FFXIV in TGS. (if it's true, it won't be released at the same time as PS3 and PC version)

Would be cool if Microsoft and SE worked out their differences. I wouldn't mind to see an Xbox360 version And from what I was told in Germany, we will not see new stuff at TGS. However I'm sure that can change.

They are not discontinuing FFXI with the release of FFXIV.

Looks like the new VDC will contain all of the mini-expansions including Shantotto.

I guess I'll be buying that since I haven't bought Kupo yet.

Also says it'll be out by 11/12 in Japan. I guess we can expect shantotto by then.

I would roughly estimate the next update around mid-October, so that makes sense.

We still have to work out the details, but the JP Button Action News Team (Elmer/Corinth) will be at the Tokyo Game Show for sure. The plan so far is to pretty much cover the show together and then disperse to our respective sites to make write-ups afterwards.

I want to do another live blog for people to follow, so I'm looking into that. We will have iPhones, so we should both be able to utilize the same LiveBlog this time. I'm thinking CoverItLive for chat and Twitter for pics/video.

Since there will only be a trailer for FFXIV, I'm thinking up front we'll tell people not to expect FFXIV info and just cover the whole show. We'll focus on FFXIV in case they at least let some new info slip, and FFXI, since I'm expecting the Shantotto add-on to make an appearance. Once I'm done with that I'm all over the Level 5 booth, though :D

Besides that, we'll just run the blog and try to make it feel like you are attending the show with us. There will be a JPB contest up (today hopefully) and one of the prizes will include new merchandise from the show.

Some of this is up in the air, since we don't know what kind of WiFi/3G access there will be. No 3G = no live streaming blog, which will suck, and we'll just have to come up for air to send some pics out.

Any suggestions for how to cover TGS would be very much appreciated as well. As mentioned above, we're thinking a CoveritLive/Twitter combo, but it would be nice to be able to take in and respond to comments this time.

Honestly, I'd be really surprised if they didn't release something important news wise about FFXIV at TGS. I know of several games I'm looking forward to hearing more about at TGS so if SE doesn't give out new info it won't be that bad.

Not too found of Twitter, but can't think of anything else that is easy to access from an iPhone to post pics. Just link from here to where you are posting, on the day, so we can find it.

Have you considered trying to get press credentials for the TGS?

Source? Seems a stretch to me because ever since SE announced FFXIV everyone that's a 360 fanboy seems to think that SE saying "We're looking into bringing it to Xbox," means 100% they're be a 360 version and thus rumors ensue.

I have no doubt they wouldn't mind putting it on 360 but there must have been a reason it wasn't originally for all 3 systems even if it was as simple as developing for 3 platforms was more than SE could handle. I think though it's more likely that there may be an issue with Sony or Microsoft. Either Sony is providing some incentive to keep FFXIV off 360 initially or with Microsoft perhaps SE didn't want to deal again with Xbox-live (Microsoft could have said FFXIV would be gold service only?) There's plenty more reasons I could think of none of which have any basis in reality but again I think it's pretty obvious there's a reason as to why FFXIV wasn't announced on 360.

im just glad to know we're getting a version update latest by November altho personally I'm banking on late October before Halloween (if only cos I think the Jester hats are the new halloween eq, but they don't have equipment .dats yet)

I'm a little surprised TGS isnt gonna get XIV alpha gameplay.. or maybe its cos the alpha version they had set up for play was only in German (?).
XIII will definitely be getting way more coverage than XIV since its releasing in a couple of months.

Seeing as XIV is managed by XI team, expect to see that whole stretched out 'new info' thing we've been so used to in XI. That said, there's definitely gonna be something new at TGS.. but probably just pictures of people and mobs... and like 1 new system concept.
