Do we know who is developing it?
why DS why...
Spoiler: show
This has to be a brand new game.. right? I haven't beaten Okami yet (>_>) but those screens look like they may be a completely new game, but I'm not sure.
PS2/Wii game ported to DS.. no thanks.
Okami would actually work quite well on the DS with the brush thing >.>
Had to find the article that was with the picture
Rumor: Famitsu scans show DS Okami sequel 'Okamiden'
I believe it's the same companyApparent Famitsu magazine scans are out, revealing what would appear to be the promised "Okamiden" game. We can't see the title in this scan, but if an Okami sequel and an unrelated game called Okamiden were revealed at the same time, it would be a pretty weird coincidence.
If this is real, it shows a DS sequel to Clover Studios' beloved PS2 action-adventure game, which captures the original's watercolor style admirably, if a bit blockily. Of course, the DS is even more of a natural for the Okami paintbrush mechanic than the Wii is!
Wow, I never thought I'd see a sequel to Okami. EVER.
DS wins again!
Fuck DS, it already has too many goddamn games I will never catch up. We need a Next Gen Okami with beautiful ass HD colors and graphics on dat triple, what the fuck is with this infantile DS shit? I can't wait until the sales bomb and do horrible anyway so they learn their goddamn lesson.
This
I was just thinking about it last night. Okami already had a sort of open world. Add that to a next gen console and it could be a huuuge game. Eff my DS. If they were targetting Okami fans when they made the game I would think they would know they'd want it on a new console.
as a person who does not own a next-gen system, but does own a Cyclo, this pleases me greatly. fuck the haters!
Are you two serious? There is absolutely no way that Okami on the HD twins would make them any money, ever. It shut Clover down after being released on the PS2 because it did not sell enough, they would never give enough money to a sequel in HD that would be worth playing. It would be even worse if they put it on "dat triple" only, most companies can't risk putting titles on just one or the other right now.
If anything you should hope that the sequel does sell so that there might be another on a future HD console with a PS2-like hardware and software sales, because that sure as hell isn't anything this gen, especially in Japan. Capcom already had a huge bomb this year with Bionic Commando, I doubt they want another. If a DS game doesn't sell, it won't hurt them nearly as much.
We are all going to have to live with the idea that DS is king in Japan for now, and thus will get the lion's share of titles from them. Fortunately, I am just fine with this, as long as they are good games.
^I'm serious, I would rather play my games full fucking screen HD. Okami's world is so big and beautiful that it's going to be put to waste trying to render it on 2 tiny powerless screens that already get enough games as it is, I don't need more goddamn DS games.
Just wait and see how bad it will still sell, I can't wait to point and laugh while I pirate it.
Who wouldn't want it? I'm saying it's totally unrealistic to expect it. The PS3 and 360 both sell like shit in Japan, and while their games sometimes sell really well, Okami did not sell well on the PS2, which had and continues to have better software sales. The incentive for people to put games on systems is to make money. An HD game costs a lot more to make than a PS2 game. It's not hard to figure out why it's on the DS. the DS sells LOTS of software. It doesn't sell everything, but it sells a lot more than anything else. That you are actually taunting the DS's ability to sell software while somehow preaching it should be on an HD system instead is roflable. Instead of pirating it, we'd just not buy it, and you can spend more money making it! For the win!
I can see why you're upset but I think you're taking your rage a bit too far, and letting it blind you in the process. if Okami sells poorly on the DS, that's only going to hurt the chances that another sequel will be made.
I really don't get the mindset of wanting something you love to fail just because you're not getting it the way you wanted it. if it sells well enough, I'm sure it'll eventually come to a current-gen console.
Why exactly is it going to sell poorly? From what I've seen...when things get released on the DS they tend to do pretty well since it's such a widely-owned system.
On-topic: Fuck yeah Okami!
Is no one taking into consideration how much easier the paintbrush skills would be to use on a DS?
And fun too, reminds me of Lost Magic.
Now that I'm done defending yet another untested game that might suck, I will go out on a limb and say that Ammy looks atrocious. The environments don't look bad, but her tail looks literally like a colored triangle. Fuck.
Wish it had been 2-D, seems so hard to get nice looking 3-d sprites on the DS. I can hope it looks better in motion though. Quite a few DS games do.
want want want
I think cel shading will cover up a lot of the inadequacies of the DS's processing power. Looking at games like KH 358/2 and Dragon Quest 9 I realize that the DS really isn't that bad in terms of graphics, so long as the developer knows what they're doing.
This series is so perfect for DS or Wii, I would much rather have this for the Wii, since my Wii has been collecting dust for a while, but it being for the DS is cool, I guess. I'm still pretty excited for it, I loved the original Okami, such a beautiful game.
