No, his attacks go through invincible. It's just for quick hate before 20 DD unload TP on him.

Why is PLD tanking this anyway?
All the PLD does is voking it off the puller and reposition it, at this point, RDM/DRK should start chainspelling. The RDM IS the tank lol. Unless somehow the RDM dies / one shotted, then perhaps the PLD will tank.
If done correctly, it will be dead by the time CS is over. BLM's toss in random stuns, while WHM's spam cureV on the RDM. Load up with HP gear (for rdm)
What's a Fairy Ring?
^^^^Amen.
Proved to be more trouble than it's worth, we don't even mess with it now. After a random wipe to FR due to a bad sac pull, yet recovering to kill Nan'tina and boss for the win, we decided to stop killing FR altogether and have never looked back. Extra farming time ftw.
One thing, with regard to Nan'tina... since we're not doing FR anymore, I feel we can take our time with it now, so after killing all the Quadavs on the way there I bring the whole alliance through the tunnel and we kill Manticores, Hippos, and Cactuars in that area before the NM. Like I said, extra farming ftw.
There's no need to waste Chainspell on Fairy Ring...you should have enough DRKs around to kill CC, so they may as well stagger stuns and keep FR locked. It's really easy to kill with decent melee. Oh, and PLD is an okay tank for this if they are subbing something like DRK for the fast VE generation.

I never noticed too much of a difference killing it or not, the only thing that I remember is that the sac pull could be bad.
We dont use a PLD nor do we CSS Fairy Ring. We just have a stun order after each dark spore so the WHM can cure V whoever got hit. Angon/Feint brings it down pretty quickly, once its under 25%, its not really a threat anymore.
Fairy Ring isn't that hard; we kill Fairy Ring and Nant'ina on every run. PLD tanks it and we have every mage spam cures on tank regardless of tank HP. We've never had a problem...we usually have 1-2 DD deaths per fight but never anything close to a wipe.
Well killing fairy doesn't really do much for the boss. Takes away his movement speed (Which doens't matter) and a breath attack that really doesn't do much damage if it gets passed the CS stunners (I think it does like 500 damage? Meh).
We do fine without killing it, but to each his own I suppose.
I have Tav access from an old shell but am trying to get my own shell access. We always used to kill FR so have done so a couple of times with my own shell. Reading this I think I'll cut him out... we usually just pull, stun rotation and curebomb our tanks. Seems to work ok but can go wrong fast if healers don't believe they shouldn't stop curing.
This is my shells Valk method we usually take.
We do a very similar method, only with few more steps:
1) flies
2) THF DP Yagudo, RNG Shadowbinds Fairy Ring and runs back to ally, kill FR
3) run to Quadavs and kill, pull Nant'ina through the tunnel and kill near Quadav spawn point
4) kill Manticores for a bit (leave about 15min for boss)
5) boss
6) few goblins right near boss after repop
7) hungry hungry hippos
8) cactus mans
9) more manticores
10) poison pots + sheep until timeout
lol...my LS always kills FR and Nan'tina np.
As for Fairy, stun is your friend, don't see why everyone is so scared of something that's not even difficult.
