ughs Pens/Devils tonight and Vs. sticks me with Sabres/Leafs
flargh and I keep losing to these bush league faggots in NHL who only know how to slide on defense and spam triangle between every whistle, double-suck night
How did that work anyways, if he comes back is he still under contract with the Wings?
I'm in your predicament Callisto.. in Canada at my gfs house for the week and everyone up here has a leafs hardon (idk why <_<) so im stuck watching the game online. I'll be at the devils/thrashers game next Monday though :D looking forward to that
Notre Dame hockey ripping off the Blackhawks 'One Goal' commercials blatantly and airing them here, one day hopefully the media will figure out that noone in Chicago gives a flying fuck about Notre Dame, if anything we'd rather see Michigan/Michigan State if we're going to check out college hockey.
Jordan Staal got completely obliterated by a puck to the face... looked like it hit his right eye, not his nose. His reaction was very much unlike a broken nose / skate to the bench reaction, and there was a LOT of blood, way more than a broken nose even... it was pretty stomach turning... Im worried for him...
Yeah that was like a faucet turned on, Vs. just showed the highlight of that, he definitely got opened up...it looked near the forehead though so probably just a big blood path
I didn't see what happened? Did staal get Yzerman'd? If so that's incredibly brutal and could end his season.
Wow, Staal just returned. Severely fractured nose it looks like (nothing to his eye thankfully), his nose is disfigured and purple, and hes wearing a full face shield now. What a trooper (257 straight games played).
Him and colin white(?) both went for the puck at the same time and it deflected up into his nose
Brodeur 104, good work.
annnd moar history is made
Off topic: Most hilarious commentary today, and it wasn't even Bob Errey this time, it was our (usually) serious announcer Paul Staggerwald.
"Subway Sandwich of the Game" Craig Adams on Mike Mottau (Hobey Baker award winner)
Staggy: "Mike Mottau went down hard courtesy of Craig Adams, but certainly not as hard as Hobey Baker went down in his plane crash."
And all that follows is 2 minutes of a mix of Staggy laughing/apologizing/yelling at Bob Errey to stop laughing cause its making him laugh and Bob Errey just laughing his ass off in the background before turning off his mic and not speaking for 5 more minutes.
lmao
If he comes back he is obligated to play under the contract that he was awarded during salary arbitration (2 years, ~2.8 mil per year). The Wings can trade him if they want to, or I would suppose his rights. His KHL deal is 1 year 5 mil, untaxed with an option for a 2nd year at the same salary if he wants.
Irony of the night, Sabres/Leafs ended up being a better game than Devs/Pens anyways.
Holy shit the Rangers won 3 in a row! GET TO THE BUNKERS THE APOCALYPSE HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't believe Steigerwald said that about Hobey Baker. If there was ever a comment that was a bit wrong, that was one of them. Couldn't believe he said that. And then was laughing about it afterwards. Sucks that the Pens were the ones to give up the shutout to Brodeur but you gotta respect that man. Greatest goalie in the history of the NHL. Never says a bad word about anyone. Just goes out and gets it done. And he received a standing ovation from the Penguins fans left, aside from a few boo's from a handful of yinzers. Grats Marty.
Yeah, I've been down in Kentucky visiting my dad. Unfortunately no hockey down here but he has this thing on DirecTV that at least shows the scores at a somewhat up-to-date pace. Started giving me shit when it was 2-0 because he's a Raiders fan and well, he's a Raiders fan. Told him though that if we were going to lose, I had hoped we would get shutout so Brodeur could get his record. Just sucks that it happened in a game that decided which one of us was #1 for a few days, but meh.
I think the real question and concern, though, is why the fuck does Fleury play like shit when Brodeur is on the other end of the ice? He really needs to get over this nervousness about being overshadowed by Brodeur, because he's not going away and having seemingly guaranteed losses against the Devils is pretty irritating given their style of play is pretty boring to witness.
