Rangers got/getting raped
it's the scariest thing that can happen to anyone on the ice because of the very rare chance of the player getting a major artery cut and bleeding out on the ice before anyone has a chance to save them. I remember hearing about the junior player in Canada that had that happen to him with his parents in the stands, died before anyone could do a thing. Scares the fuck out of me too.
another shutout, another day... I think devils are first again now as well in the league :D
I don't know how anyone can enjoy growing up watching the New Jersey trap.... if all of hockey was like that, I wouldn't watch hockey.
It does work pretty damn well though, lol.
Oh yes, the trap works. But God damn it makes a game boring as fuck to watch. I got tired of it at the beginning of the second and turned it off. I can understand the strategy of it and the benefits. But it's just too damn boring for me to sit there for two and a half hours and watch. I would rather pull my own toenails out with a pair of rusty pliers than watch that crap.

No need to tell me I'm an idiot/homer, the Sharks already punished me for my hubris last night.
But which Mike Green would they be getting? Mike Green who scored 30 goals in the regular season? Or Mike Green who completely vanished and became a nonfactor in the playoffs. I'm surprised they left him off just because the offensive touch he has is simply too great to ignore and there aren't too many defenseman that have the ability to change a game. So it's a bit of a head scratcher that he wasn't on the roster.
Well I'll be the first to admit that Greenie isn't the most lock-down defenseman in the game. And Canada is lucky to have probably the best blue line of any international team. But to me the Olympics seems to be more about finesse, the play isn't as physical and the ice surface is wider, and that would seem to favor choosing Green. The only selections I was surprised at over Green were Drew Doughty, not because he doesn't deserve it but the kid just turned 20, and Brent Seabrook, who isn't so much a household name but also deserved the nod. I guess Green will just have to settle for a Cup instead of gold.
He's still currently leading all Ds in points last I checked...but I think they want actual defenders for the Olympics, not offensive defenders, they aren't really dealing with a shortage of scoring talent up front.
Edit: And yeah, regardless of individual skill, Keith + Seabrook as a defensive line is going to outdo Keith + anyone else or Green + anyone else, even without trying to be biased they just play really, really well together.
Aren't we the optimist?I guess Green will just have to settle for a Cup instead of gold.![]()
You missed:
We managed a surge in the 2nd and managed a shocking 10 shots in like 8 minutes.
Malkin blocked a shot with his foot, got hurt. Seemed to be just a stinger, as he returned 10 minutes later.
Gonchar blocked a shot with his foot, got hurt. Seemed a little worse than Malkins, as he REALLY couldnt skate when it happened, but returned at the end of the game (albeit with seemingly reduced mobility).
GAME SUMMARY:
Devils ruin everything Gary Bettman and the NHLPA set out to do to improve hockey, lock down the entire game, take 0 chances themselves, make sure nothing comes their way either. They score 1 fluke goal in the 1st period throwing the puck to the net from the corner and then other than 2 PPs make no attempt to score until an empty net goal at the end of the game.
Babcock was quoted as saying he wants 200 feet hockey players and I guess he found Green to be lacking in that respect as some of you have already said. The defensive pairings Canada has are pretty good and putting Green in there as the seventh defenseman would have been kind of a waste as the seventh won't be seeing much action during the Olympics anyways. Doughty was probably brought along so he could get some experience on the world stage and play a bigger role in the next Olympics.
Edit: I would just like to say I'm glad Jaques Lemaire is coaching the Devils again because now I don't have to watch his super efficient, super boring style of hockey in the western conference anymore. The sad thing is this could the year he takes the Devils all the way.
Why the hell is Eric stall there?
I like the guy but he's been injured almost the full half season.
They souldbe put St-Louis there ...
Happy New Years boys & girls!!
