That was actually the funniest one I've seen thus far. A couple other ones made me giggle too.

Yeah I like the direction the commercials went, as I said, they're becoming "Super Bowl like". They will hopefully be even better next year, as it becomes more and more a legitimate big event.

Also, Fleury is atrocious when hes not focusing and motivated to try. He openly admits to soft goals / not getting up for every game / etc.

Meh not really too ouch though. He's streaky at best and isn't the most reliable contributor. When he's on a roll he's pretty good but for all the times he disappears it's doesn't even out.

For 2 prospects, 2-3 picks, and a roster player...I don't think so.

Having Kovalchuk this season isn't going to win a cup this season...so it's a pointless endeavor. If he really wants to sign here, the moves to make are to shed at least 2 of the bad contracts (adios Redden and Roszival) and go after him during the summer.


Trading for him would be an atrociously bad decision.

I just can't see any GM being dumb enough to take a rental player with a cost that high. He'll sign in Atlanta or there will be a bidding war to end all bidding wars this summer.

Chicago can make the deal because they have the depth, and they're likely going to lose guys anyway because they're so close to the cap, they won't be able to afford to keep them all.

With that logic, it sort of makes sense to trade them off for Kovalchuk...but I don't think it's worth it. Especially since there's basically zero chance they'd be able to resign him, it would basically be a rental -- a very expensive rental.

I expect it all to play out in 1 of 2 ways:

1) ALA Roy Holliday past baseball season - Asking price will be too steep (as it stands now, the rumors are 2 prospects, 2 picks, 1 roster player) and nobody is going to bite.

2) ALA Jay Bouwmeester - Atlanta is 3 points behind MTL for the 8th spot in the east, and have 3 games in hand..the East has been such a shitstorm, all a team needs to do is get hot at the right time to at least get in. ATL will try to make a push, in hopes of being able to convince Kovalchuk to stay, and won't trade him. At which point they'll trade his rights sometime around the draft.

I agree they could take losing a couple of the guys, though some of them are currently playing pretty well such as Sharp/Versteeg, Barker they could stand to give up, some Burnside @ ESPN mentioned Niemi, and I really, really hope that doesn't happen as he may end up being our netminder of the future if he keeps up as is.

Well, more so "about fucking time they chose a captain" rather than specifically Ovie, but he would have been my second choice after Backstrom. He might seem like a bad choice from outside the Beltway, but I honestly don't know why. Dale Hunter was probably our most revered captain, and he certainly had his problems with the "dirty player" label. Anyway, most people around the team couldn't be happier from what I've read.

A solid win is a good start to the new regime. Boudreau moved Flash to center tonight, and he responds with a 1G 2A effort. Me likey.
