I agree they could take losing a couple of the guys, though some of them are currently playing pretty well such as Sharp/Versteeg, Barker they could stand to give up, some Burnside @ ESPN mentioned Niemi, and I really, really hope that doesn't happen as he may end up being our netminder of the future if he keeps up as is.

That's why it doesn't make sense to me, and I'm not even a Hawks fan! I'd love to have ANY of Sharp, Versteeg, Byfuglien, or Barker on the Rangers -- any trade that involves possibly 2 of them, plus picks, and prospects, is a bad move.

It just doesn't make sense. I understand going for it all now before the cap kills your team, but stick with what got you there.

PS -- Koolaid: Krieder, Bourque, and Stepan, all Rangers prospects =)

I'm kinda hoping we can find someone who will take Campbell along with a couple of draft picks after this year so they can hold together the rest of the core...money-wise it'd be nice to see Sopel go too, but he's such a great community guy I don't want to wish him out.

I really think it'd be a terrible idea to give up any 2 of the 11-14 goal guys they currently have in exchange for a 25 goal guy, right now almost every single person on the Hawks has to be accounted for or they're going to put the puck in the net eventually, as opposed to a team like NYR where you can key in on Gaborik and the rest of them aren't really going to beat you if he has an off night.

If that wasn't the same night I have class, I'd show up. I had my 10-year reunion there, and their beer selection is the only thing that made it fun. :D

In regard to Ovie getting the C, I'm looking at it from a more positive standpoint. The AP story regarding the Habs/Caps game last night had some nice words from Ovie about receiving the C. I'm looking toward it forcing him to be more disciplined in his role.

It was nice to see Fleischmann stepping up again in the game last night. It was also nice to see Bergeron and Markov with points for the Habs. Markov has been on a tear with 12 points in 10 games. It would be interesting to see how the Habs would be doing if Markov wasn't injured for those 3 months. Also nice to see Benoit Pouliot with 3 goals in 5 games. Hopefully he can redeem himself after the Wild threw away a 1st round pick on him.

Pens warmed up for the Phailures with a Thrasher whoopin. I advise all non-Pittsburghers who didn't see the game to go on NHL.com and watch Luca Caputi's goal - Malkin just Stone Cold Stunnered the entire Thrashers team, Pavel Kubina is still throwing up in the shower.

The World Juniors were good. I'm not at all surprised it ended the way it did. The Canadians were terrible about over-committing in the offensive zone and giving up odd-man rushes. I think this happened on at least 2 goals besides the game-winner. Sure Canada had odd-man rushes too, but it seemed to me that the Americans capitalized on theirs better than the Canadians.

Chicago against Boston, good game so far. Sharp absolutely rocks Chara with a clean hit, and Toews isn't backing down from Chara either and we have 3 unanswered goals.

I hope this is the actual flyers team. If they can score goals and minimize their PIM, they're gonna hopefully manage to make the playoffs.

Sadly, they'll still lose to the penguins when it really matters. Nice to see JVR get some pts and the team turning around. Leighton's been a pleasant surprise, but I still would rather Emery minding the net.

Sick game by the Canucks. Luongo gets his 50th shutout. Burrows gets a hat trick two nights in a row. Coolest of all, Henrik Sedin now leads the NHL scoring race with 3 points on the night, 6.1 mil a year well spent
