Oh, and off topic... For Christmas, my Dad got me an autographed Tyler Myers photo framed and shit, with an autographed Sabres puck. My Mom had my Sabres jersey embroidered with Myers number/name.

Those were two pretty cool gifts if I do say so myself. It's kinda hard to buy shit for me since I don't really need anything, and if I want something I normally just buy it myself. Those were two things I probley would have never gotten done for myself.

It's funny watching the Classic Series' on the NHL network, when they show games from various decades. You see highlights of games in the 80's and it's like "Where was the call?!" when someone is trying to break in on net with 3 guys draped all over him.
Now it's like "Your stick was parallel to the ice, so that's a hook." Also, "The goal is disallowed because I had intent to blow the whistle."

Can you imagine some of the older players trying to make the adjustment to the new game? It'd be insane. Scott Stevens would be screwed. He'd retire to play a more physical game of chess.

Yeah I saw he had a hamstring thing after the fact, I was just thinking to myself while watching the highlights on NHL.com that the first two guys I would expect to see mixing it up in a game like that would be Avery and Brash. He was always our default fighter, and probably the biggest fan favorite goon in DC since Stephen Peat, although Bradley seems to be gaining on him now.

Brashear has been fucking awful since he got here. Letting Orr walk to bring him in is fucking inexcusable. Orr was far from a good hockey player -- but he busted his ass and guys' faces.

No letdown for the Caps last night against Phoenix. At first I didn't like splitting up Ovie and Semin, but they've both seemed to develop some chemistry with their respective power forwards, Knuble for Ovie and either Laich or Fehr for Semin. The only bad spot last night was Jeff Schultz, I haven't mentioned it here yet but he's been getting a lot of publicity for picking up his defensive play and getting more minutes. Last night though he basically gave up both goals by himself, wasn't physical and couldn't clear the zone. Oh well, everybody has a clunker sometimes, and a win's a win.

Awesome game from the Canucks yesterday. They were missing 3 of their top 4 dmen but played super solid team defense and Luo stood on his head when he had to.

Ryan Kesler had some choice words about Andrew Ladd: "He's a coward, he'll always be a coward. At least he was man enough to hit me when I was looking this time."

Bahahahahahahaha classic Flyers dumb penalties screwing themselves over. At least the Pens penalties for the most part have been legitimate penalties like Staal's hook, or Goligoski fighting for position down low on the PP.

But Gagne's... Gagne just got legally checked and he thinks thats unacceptable so hes going to go bear hug Malkin and try and tackle him as Malkin tries to skate away, costing his team a goal. Good going.
