OV was named captain on 1/5, and since then the team has won 17 of 18 (and 14 straight), and he has 16 goals and 20 assists. He has 86 points in 51 games this season.

Also, if I have to work tomorrow I'm going to be fucking bitter. No above ground Metro, and underground trains running every 30 minutes. And now they're saying we're supposed to get even more snow on Tuesday. It's like Fallout 3 out there, only with ice instead of nukes.

Also OV passed Henrik Sedin and is now firmly the points leader in the NHL. Dude could hit 110 points this season pretty easy if he keeps up this pace. Possibly even 120.

I prayed at several points during today's game he was hurt, but every time he just affirmed my conviction more and more that hes just as big of a diver as (if not bigger than) Crosby was back when he was a rookie. He just kept going down and laying there like he was hurt and then OOOOPS!!! HES FINE!!!

Except it was shoulder to shoulder. It was a hard hit from the side, but the hit itself was not illegal, and whether or not it was dirty depends on your view of that type of hit.

That hit was in no way dirty. Brutal and damaging yes, it's being reported that dude re-fractured his nose and lost some teeth. His head was down and he had all his attention on the puck while going to the net. That right there is a recipe for disaster against a team as physical as Philly.

I'm a new jersey fan, and I still think it was legal. Like someone said above, stevens did that shit on a regular basis and clean hits are clean... they cause injuries sometimes, but still clean.

I don't think anyone "deserves that" but it was a clean hit nonetheless. What's worse is NJ stopped playing after the first. I watched most of the game on Versus and their power play looked pretty bad, I'm sure it'll get better once they get more used to Kovalchuk but it seemed like the same old Devils, get a lead and try to sit back and protect for two periods.

They didn't trade Jacques Lemaire. They're still going to play leaning very heavily towards defense-first, Kovalchuk just makes it much easier for them to get the lead and helps them catch up if they don't. They still by no means are going to play run and gun with the Hawks, Pens, or Caps, simply cause of who their coach is.

you do realize that was jeff carter's first career body check? if Jacques Lemaire OK's the hit, then you know damn well it was legal. he knows better than anyone, since as stated, he had front row seats for Stevens countless hits that were worse than that
