We gotta stop going to shootouts too, shit's going to give me an ulcer, at least they pulled this one out.

    D'oh!

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- Marian Gaborik limped off the ice during practice Tuesday after the New York Rangers' leading scorer was cut on the right knee by the skate of goalie Henrik Lundqvist in a collision.

Gaborik skated in on Lundqvist during a breakaway drill and tried to jump over his teammate's outstretched leg when contact was made. The right winger, who has a team-high 35 goals and 69 points, fell to the ice and stayed down for a few moments.

"I thought he was joking," Lundqvist said. "My skate caught his knee. Hopefully he'll be OK."

Gaborik skated off slowly with assistance and didn't put weight on his right leg. He received stitches at the team's practice facility but didn't require X-rays. He wasn't available to speak to reporters.

Gaborik's status for Wednesday night's home game against the Nashville Predators wasn't immediately clear. He is also slated to play for Slovakia at the Vancouver Olympics.

"Right now, that's all we think it is," assistant coach Jim Schoenfeld said. "It's not like it's a twist to the groin or the knee. It's just a laceration."

Gaborik, who will turn 28 on Sunday, is in the first season of a five-year, $37.5 million deal with the Rangers. After scoring a career-high 42 goals in the 2007-08 season with the Minnesota Wild, Gaborik was limited to 17 games last season because of hip surgery.

He has missed two games this season, but Gaborik played more than 65 only one time in his final five seasons with Minnesota. Gaborik has scored at least 30 goals in six of his nine NHL seasons.

The Rangers have three games this week before the NHL takes a two-week Olympic break. New York (26-26-7) will resume play March 2 at Ottawa.

Not really worried. They may sit him tonight just for precautionary measures, but it doesn't sound like anything serious at all.

21ºF, 40mph winds, and snow. Work and classes are canceled for today, but at least the Habs v. Caps game is on tonight. Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2 as well to occupy my day. :D As much as I love snow, the DC area can't deal with it at all. Visibility is less than a freaking block.

Here in Chicago the shit's plowed before it hits the ground, the weather sucks but at least we're equipped to deal with it, lol. When I get out of work in a bit going to go out to the retention pond at a local park to shovel it off and see if it's skateable.

That's how it was when I lived in Utah, and people understood how to drive on packed powder. Here, you see people in their SUVs flying down the road and then ending up off the road...

ugh, 11 degrees with wind chill but only 30 naturally, outdoor ice is likely still pretty crappy today, going to have to pony up $20 for indoor instructional tonight instead

Tell that to the plow trucks in the Woodridge area lol. Fuckers didn't do shit overnight, so I woke up this morning and my subdivision hadn't been touched, so I decided to just work from home. This coming too, after our Earthquake lol. Earthquakes in Illinois, who woulda thought it?

Truth be told, one of the biggest faultlines in the entire world is underneath the midwest US. Runs right through Ohio if I'm not mistaken, it's just not very active.

Yeah, there's a pretty large one that runs through eastern OH. We have 2 in IL, one in the NW Chicago suburbs(further out than where I am though) and another in southern IL.

And Selamis, our drive way was plowed plus the plow guys cleaned off our cars, even I wtf'd at that one lol

This snow storm is ridiculous. I think my school is quite literally the only school in Pittsburgh that hasn't been canceled, making my commute even worse.

In NHL news, Lilja is ready to come back for Detroit but they can't activate him until they clear out 1.25mil in salary. Ouch.

Meech has 5 points in 40 games and is sitting at -12, Stuart isn't doing any better, I'm sure they can find some way to unload one of those two.

I think we're getting special treatment because they hit & run my g/f's car with one of their plows, she got like a $3k insurance settlement and I think the driver got fired/possibly deported, lol.

Lebda would be my choice for unloading on the defensive side, with Lilja coming back that would give the Wings 8 defenseman when Kronwall is healthy again (again).

Stuart has been wildly inconsistent but plays better than his -14 indicates, he's saved more goals than anyone except Howard this year most likely. Meech seems about the same as Lebda to me, but he also has 2 years less experience in the NHL and therefore more potential in my mind. At least Lidstrom is having a good year, albeit quietly. +21 on a team that is -13 in even strength goals, still one of the best defenseman in the league at 39.
