I'm glad Fleischmann made it through the deadline. My friend told me to hold off on getting his jersey as he had heard rumors. Seems like, as you said, a good trade deadline for the Caps. Upgraded some positions and didn't lose much, they've got so much youth as is, so the draft picks are a minimal loss.

I kept hearing the same thing, both about Flash and Fehr. Don't know why you'd want to trade these guys as they've both had some success this year. Will be interesting to see how the lines and D-pairings shake up once everyone lands at Reagan tomorrow, the only unit safe is probably Ovie/Backstrom/Knuble.

Edit: I'd imagine Green/Schultz is safe as the top pairing too, but who knows? Also, getting two new D-men and only giving up Pothier probably means a full-time gig in Hershey for Carlson and Alzner. Meh.

All things said and done this was a fairly pedestrian trade deadline. I was a bit disappointed by it.

I only watched until Osgood came in, knew the game was over at that point. I think he can play well enough but he's not great and with a 2 goal deficit it's probably not gonna happen. At least Calgary and Anaheim lost.

I was amazed at how many good chances Buffalo had and failed to convert. Lots of scrums in front of the net with Theo down and out, and follow-up shots go high or wide. Could have been a very different game but I'll take the two points on the road. Ovie looked pretty meh last night, I hope he doesn't go into a funk just because Team Russia got their asses handed to them. Aside from two shots off faceoff wins and one pretty good curl and drag move, he wasn't really a factor. Good to see the third line being productive though, Fehr/Flash/Chimera was our best line last night.

Ovie looked pretty meh last night, I hope he doesn't go into a funk just because Team Russia got their asses handed to them.

Maybe its cause hes a meh player? He headhunts, he hits well, but he just shoots an excessive amount of times. I bet Joe Pavelski could score 50 goals too if he took 600 shots. Worse yet, hes not even good in big games. He disappeared versus Canada, the Penguins last spring in game 7, he just isn't Overtime Gold quality.

When does the contract with VS end? Is it next season? Also, is it true that ESPN gives the NHL like 3minutes a night on Sports Center IF Sid the Kid or OV does something big? If this is all true, no wonder American's don't watch hockey.

ESPN will show hockey highlights ONLY if Sid or Ovie are involved, but usually only when they play each other. Hockey plays do make the Top 10 sometimes, but that is mostly reserved for 7' men dunking basketballs or muscle bound steroid freaks hitting homeruns. So yeah, ESPN gives the NHL the shaft most of the time, but that's mostly because they don't own it.

I do believe VS contract is up after next season.

What a rightful fucking ending to a pathetic game. Pens DOMINATED the Rangers. 5-4 in OT, but goddamn the Rangers got a lucky bounce on one goal, Fleury sucked dick on the others. Pens outshot the Rangers like 55-16. I know we finished with 55 shots, idk about the gayngers. Rangers suck. Dont even care about giving up 1 point to them, theyre no threat at all.
