If Phoenix wins the cup, Im seriously calling conspiracy.
If Phoenix wins the cup, Im seriously calling conspiracy.
Saturday will probably settle that one way or the other.
Hawks looked back to form tonight, doing the shit they're supposed to do, getting to the net, getting in front of shots, and getting the puck the fuck out when it's floating in front of the goal.
Byfuglien did a pretty solid job as a D, glad we had a spare big body who knew how to play the position hanging around, Boynton's been solid so far too.
Edit: Thanks to Vancouver for helping us pull back into being tied for the conference lead. :3
We have the tie breaker in wins, and then head to head after that if we were to decide the season in a tie in points. We're first in the west again at the moment, at least according to my understanding of tie breakers. Good game, team looked good tonight. They said on the postgame on the radio that Saturday's game against the Coyotes will be the first time this season (and probably the last 4-5?) that the Coyotes rink will be sold out.
You do realize how up against the cap the Wings are right now right? They'd have to clear up 5.5mil in cap room just to add Hudler in the offseason like they want to. So I really don't see how he could be free lol, you'd have to give up a decent player or 2 just to get him signed.
1. Washington (71) 104
2. Pittsburgh (71) 89
3. Buffalo (69) 84
4. New Jersey (70) 88
5. Philadelphia (70) 79
6. Ottawa (71) 79
7. Montreal (71) 78
8. Boston (70) 74
9. Atlanta (70) 71
10. NY Rangers (71) 71
11. Tampa Bay (70) 68
Could you imagine New Jersey leap frogging the Pens - which would then result in the Pens playing Philly in the first round (with Pens having home ice) and then Washington in the second round (with Washington having home ice). Sound familiar?!?!? REPEAT BABY.
I would like to thank every team for slowing the habs competitients down
EXEPT YOU DAMN STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I still can't wrap my head around the fact that the Canucks have scored the second most goals in the league, right behind Washington. With Samuelsson out Chicago or San Jose may pass us over the next week but still we're right up there. God I want the playoffs to start, I want to see how far we go this year.
Ok so Montreal has a chance to finish 5th max
Which means if we finish 5-8 we have to fight between 1-4 which means Washington Pittsburgh NJ or Buffalo
personally i wish to fight NJ or buffalo in first round lol
Canucks signed Ryan Kesler to a 6 year deal. No details on the money yet.
Lidstrom's 7 mil comes off the books, he will likely resign for a bit less than he is making right now. Helm, Miller, Williams, Eaves, Bertuzzi, Holmstrom, Lilja, Maltby, Lebda, and Meech are all impending free agents. A guy out of the Elitserien will likely command at most 1 mil, maybe 2 if he wins the MVP, which is nothing. Hudler is already signed for 2.85 mil if he decides to come back to the NHL.
Wings have almost 17 mil free for next season, not sure how you figure that is "up against the cap."
edit: I'd also say the Wings or Flames had the best D-Cores before Kronwall got injured, Stuart started playing like shit, and the 3rd pairing started playing like shit. And before the Flames traded Phaneuf.
We're talking about a team in Phoenix where, despite their leading scorer only having -52 points- they're challenging for a Division title and closing ground on the Hawks, Sharks, and Canucks.
Yes, part of that is the Bryzgolov show, but part of the Bryzgolov show is done via the aid of his defensemen. Offensively, they have a 11 goal D-man (Yandle), a 10 goal D-man who's missed ~15 games (Jovanoski), and a couple other 5-7 goal, 30 point D-men.
I personally saw the talent in person of the Phoenix D when Ed Jovocop scored the opening (and eventually game winning) goal and then negated what would've been a 1-1 game tying goal drawing a penalty away from the puck as Goligoski let out a shot that beat Ilya. The whole game the Pens had very little offensive zone time, and eventually lost 3-0, due to an amazing Coyotes trap, that while Devils like, I don't hate them for it, cause I don't have to see 20x a year and its the only way they avoid competing with the Maple Leafs for lottery balls.
I think you're a bit biased because of them being in the west, not being a team that has been in competition for anything recently, and beating the Pens. One thing is true though, they're playing well as a team and they are 5th in points in the NHL.
edit: Also their leading scorer technically has 51 points, Wolski has only scored 5 for them (though he's only played 7 games).
edit again: Fuck me, the Wings are playing against a rookie goalie in Edmonton tonight who has a 0-8-2 record, 4.16 GAA and .868 sv% career. I predict the Wings make him look like a HOF goalie in a losing effort, because that is just what they do against shit teams/goalies.
This Edmonton we're talking about. If Detroit does that then I would start considering their season over.
