I think every sport should have an award for the best player, and then a second award for "holy shit his team would be absolutely fucked without him." Miller probably wins the latter in a landslide.
It actually says its awarded to "player adjudged most valuable to his team" in the National Hockey League.

Weird, Wonder when they changed that because for the longest time, I always remember it being for the player most valuable to his team.

The link he has is from the old NHL site. If you notice they have the winners from 2008. The NHL website is nice and all but they still have some issues.

Hart is most valuable player, Pearson is the most outstanding (or best) player.

In reality they should generally go to different players, but in recent years it has always been the same.

I thought Ovie fought Mike Richards or someone one year and then said something like "Me No Like Fight, Me Like Score" afterwards.

IIRC, it wasn't so much of a fight as a scrum after this:

Also, I'll just leave this here before the trolls find it first and try to lord it over my head:

Well its only Tuesday but its pretty much "game" in this week's fantasy matchup. 10 players for MetalGods this evening and 8 of them walked away with at least 1 point (G or A). 6 G 4 A in one day, and goaltending stats aren't looking much better - Jimmy Howard somehow one-hits the Stanley Cup champs but Roberto Luongo is looking like an amateur against the lowly Edmonton Oilers. I can only choose my players, I can't dictate how well they play ._. Oh well, eliminated Abraxas, the playoffs won't be a total wash for me.

Niemi apparently ate his Wheaties tonight, and I think Pat Foley just had a stroke after that last couple of saves

Wow Luongo pretty much lost the game for us tonight. Pretty brutal.

Lucky for the Canucks that the rest of that division is kinda crappy, lol.

No kidding. I remember when the NW division was considered the toughest division in the league. Not so much anymore. I hope luongo is just floating right now but if he's gonna do that put Rayzor in.

I would take a blindfolded Luongo before putting in Andrew Raysoft though.

Dude Raycroft has been good for us most games he plays in. He's easily the best back up we've had in a few years. I'm sure someone will pick him up next year.

    Eh its not over yet.

I spent about an hour today going over my roster deciding which of my 3 forwards I was going to bench. In the end I made pretty good choices:

-Erat went straight 0s (decided not to play 2 forwards from the same team if I could help it, Hornquivst has been better overall)
-Stemp just a -1 (I figured Chicago would come out strong with the pressure on to retain #1, and that the 'Yotes streak had to end somewhere)
-Husselius I wish I hadn't, he kept his streak up. I didn't think NJ would let up 4 goals and decided to go with Vermette as my one guy from CBJ.

I was hoping Luongo would turd it up, and he lived up to expectations. How bad has he been since the Olymipcs?

Still its not over. Who knows, Theodore could post a shutout vs Pittsburg and Anderson could let in 5 again on LA, he's not looked very sharp lately. And you'll still definately have me on PIM with Gagne getting ejected. PP and plus minus are still a close. PP is a tie still. It's definitely not a done deal yet.

yea, its pretty bad that wasn't called. but kudos to Gagne for jumping him after the goal. Volchenkov was throwing elbows all night. it really takes alot for Gagne to do something like that.

Ottawa ended up with a 7min PP, cause gagne got 5 for fighting and 2 for instigating.... instantly reminded me of Carcillo's-Bradley punch.

And Gagne got 19 pen mins for you on that play Sep
