Caps continue to get smoked in the 1st period. 3-1 last night and should have been 4-1 if Theo doesn't stop a breakaway. I picked a pretty good game to plop down $125 on great seats. The comeback was nice but losing in overtime is dildos.

As for the Caps, I can't really fault them for being flat after essentially clinching 1st in the East. I secretly think they want to punt the President's to San Jose as not to incur the curse of the 1st round exit. Last night was a fun game, I've gotta think Mathieu Perrault is adding more to the team than Steckel or Gordon ever have. And Mike Green is doing his thing, 30+ more minutes of top-notch hockey. He won't win the Norris and people still love to pile on his lack of physical play but he's a damn good player. Only thing that worried me last night was Carlson's phantom upper-body injury.

Do the Hawks have any goalies in their system that can step up next year? Gonna suck if all you have is Huet and a crappy AHL goalie that's not ready.

That article was clearly written before last night. Pens defensemen were the focus of the blame as they missed like a combined 30 shots on goal, several of them on empty nets / great oppurtunities, among the 6 of them.

The camera angle from that arena was horrible. It looked like I was watching the game from a helicopter.

Corey Crawford was being groomed to be their goalie of the future before they signed Huet to his monster contract, but he's been stuck down in the AHL forever now. Pretty sure he's still under contract for a bit but I haven't really seen enough of him, he's only played like 2 NHL games in the last 3 years.

I'm under the impression that a couple of forwards are going to go after the season to make room for Niemi since they're pretty deep there and have some decent ones in the AHL they could bring up on the cheap, Niemi's done well this season but not well enough that another team is going to toss a fuckton of money at him to lure him away.

I don't see Versteeg being on the team next year, I'm just hoping they don't get rid of any of Ladd/Sharp/Byfuglien.

Mellon/Civic Arena angle is perfect, if you grow up with it, you're used to it. I think other arenas are too low, it bothers me when I can see the crowd along the bottom edge of the screen.

Bob Errey is a hero. He plays his role perfectly, hes there for comedic relief. He knows he says dumb things, he knows he jokes around, he knows he says inappropriate things. Thats why Pittsburgh loves him. Its 100x better than Eddie Olcyzek or NBC/Versus crew who try to be serious and insightful but still say retarded things.

Versteeg looked great at the beginning of the year but he's playing like ass lately. Every time he gets the puck recently he tries some bullshit Ovechkin move that he's not really good enough to pull off and hands the puck right over, when he was just getting to the net and keeping things simple he was on a roll.
