Not sure I agree with Greenie at 7, especially after the playoff debacle. But I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he was playing hurt. Nice to see Backstrom getting some love. I'll let the Pens fanbois argue over the 2-3 slots.

Caps v Rangers tonight, with Brashear telling the papers he's looking to take it to the Caps for letting him go. I've had a lot of shitty things happen to me in my life, but thank god none of them have involved something like Brash wanting to kick my ass. Yikes.

Really competitive PHI/PIT game tonight.

Not without controversy though, Flyers went total goon city towards the end bowling over Fleury with 1 second left and then Hartnell wailing on Kris Letang and Pronger visibly choking Chris Kunitz with his hands grasped around his neck. What else is new though? After the melee, Letang skated off shaking his hands and rushed down the ramp to the training room and then came back after some initial care came back and showed the referees and then left again. The general consensus is that Hartnell bit Letang's finger during the scrum (and enough to draw some blood), as Letang was clearly troubled by what happened, although refused to comment on it. His only remarks were that its "no surprise from them (the flyers)/him" and "its the first time ive ever heard someone do that in hockey" but refused to specifically comment on what occured so far.


Refs seemed to be in Biasedcity after their detour through Pittsburgh last night, as the bullshit calls continued. Malkin got 8 more PIM (4 minors) and Crosby got one as well, so now they're on pace for like 300 and 200 PIM respectively after both got a pair of minors last night. Overall, the Flyers got 7 Power Plays last night (after Phoenix had what? a dozen last night?) and the Pens only had 4 (technically 5, but the 5th was a 1.5 second power play at the end after the scrum).

it was more the flyers lost rather than the pens win. 3 of the goals were on a silver platter, and one you didnt even have to do anything for. poor coburn had a rough night

Fixed that for you. As disturbing as it is for a player to bite another player, it was still funny. I laughed. That's the difference between being ready for a game and being unprepared. Philadelphia made a ton of mental errors that created opportunities for the Penguins. The Pens capitalized. So while it's easy to say that Philadelphia gift wrapped goals for the Pens, the Pens were still in position to score when that happened. For Coburn to fuck up is a bit rare, but I'm sure if we ask any Ottawa fans they'll tell us what they think of Emery.

Ok got that off my chest. We played terrible last night and got burned like crazy. Time after time our defensemen (coughMarcMethotcough) were just getting blown by as they scrambled to recover from extremely poor positioning. Methot just needs to take a seat, he's played terrible so far this year.

I didn't think the refs were biased at all and I'm a Pens fan. I think the refs are doing what they always do at the beginning of the season. They are calling games extremely tight. Give it a few weeks and it will taper off. It always does.

18 power plays or whatever its been in the past 2 games for the other team? Maybe 5-6 of them were legit.

But okay Abraxas, crawl back in your hole and ignore what I have to say, but just go back down in there with the knowledge that the Pens won and you lost and you have to go until December at the very least before you can beat our "grubby french asses."

Interesting side note, Penguins have one of the most American teams in the league it seems. Guerin, Borque, Orpik, Goligoski, Rupp, NBM Eaton, Brent Johnson, and if you want to count one of our regularly scratched players, Ben Lovejoy. Also formerly had Rob Scuderi, Ryan Whitney, and Ryan Malone in the past 2 seasons who were all Americans too.
