That's how I roll. Once sepukku stops insisting the penguins are the nest hockey team ever I'll change it. Also, Oxy, kotalik will never be sitting, he's far too vital to the powerplay. Torts loves Higgy and Avery as well, so I think Voros is SOL.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Crosby fan. I wanted nothing more than to see him hoist the Stanley Cup in June. It also helped that I absolutely LOATHE the Wings.
They skated circles around the Blues last night, and watching the game last night on TV, I'm sure Fleury faced more shots in his pre-game, afternoon nap.

But to keep with the fun flame wars going on in this thread, I'd like to declare that Montreal is going all the way this year. Why, you ask? Because the greatest NHL defenceman of all time is on the team: Marc-Andre Bergeron.
For starters, his initials are MAB. As a Black Mage, this is essential. Since he's taru-sized, he'll provide even more potent "MAB" on the point during the powerplay. I mean think about it, when Markov gets back, their powerplay will be AM/MAB. That right there seals the deal.
He even got 2 PIMs last night. Sure it was for hooking a guy because he has all the skating ability of a shopping cart and can't keep up, but I'd like to flip it around and say that it's because he's a force on the back end.

I agree that Kotalik won't sit, he's too vital on the PP. I don't think I was advocating Kotalik should, least that wasn't my aim.

I was just playing devil's advocate that Voros is the best FOURTH LINE guy out of Avery/Lisin/Voros/Higgins (you mentioned him, I didn't) of course Voros is SOL because a fourth liner is all he is -- while the other guys add more. It it strikes me as a situation where having depth (which is always good) is actually keeping a guy out of a spot he is best suited for.

I'm more upset about Marc Savard getting hurt than Gonchar being gone from the Pens, since that effects a pool I'm in.
Pittsburgh's PP is mega streaky considering the amount of talent they have to work with. Maybe with Gonchar out, they'll go back to keeping things simple.

And yes, my jackass Bergeron comments were my equivalent of the Eaton > Timmonen convo. Marc-Andre got ROCKED last night by Armstrong though.

Higgins as a Hab reminded me of Brian Savage. He used to start out like a house on fire in October, and then finish the season with like 15 goals, 8 of which in the first month. With him in NY, I don't get to see him as often, so I dunno whether or not he's changed, or just an offensive enigma waiting to either break out or fizzle.
I wished the Oilers had hung onto Kotalik. He had just found some Ales ---> Ales chemistry with Hemsky and then the Oil got too busy trying to land Heatley (yeah, right) and let him slip away.

We can do without him for the month or so he's projected to be out. Him and Orpik have been the worst defensive pair on our team, anyway. I'm interested to see how well Skoula plays since I've never seen him before as far as I know. As far as quarterbacking the powerplay, I wouldn't be surprised to see Malkin drop back to the point with either Goligoski or Letang. Malkin used to play the point anyway on the PP. Guerin, Staal, Crosby as forwards, or maybe Kunitz instead of Staal.



Also, it's fucking sad how easily all of you are trolled by Sepukku. You guys bitch more than Crosby does (am I doing it right?).

Broken wrist isn't a serious injury. He'll be back before 2010. We went without him for much, much longer last year, and well... you know what the result was

We have multiple capable pointmen in Goligoski, Letang, and the Legendary NBM Eaton - peace be with him, so I am not worried.

I thought about picking up MAB for a D in my fantasy league since Markov is out, SOMEONE has to hand the puck around for some easy PPP, but I dropped him shortly after picking him up, not even getting a game out of him.

Also, BrillCS you're lucky. You lucked out of me getting Iginla's 1 G / 2 A night last night cause the trade I made with lolBST finally went through and it messed up my roster and I wasn't at a computer all yesterday to check my leagues.

The big worry after Sergei and Andrei had good seasons 2007-2008 was if the Habs would be able to keep them from going to the KHL. Without Sergei there, it will be interesting to see if Andrei grows up and steps up.
