The Sharks are still damn good, but Hawks were red-hot the last 2 weeks before Hossa came back, adding him to a Kane/Toews line is just disgusting.

In seriousness though, re: the Western, Colorado still looks great and every game they've played against the Hawks has gone to overtime, certainly wouldn't count them out. San Jose is kinda baffling, they're loaded with talent but find a way to blow big games. Pretty safe to say Chicago has Calgary's number, they've won like 7 straight counting the playoffs and have scored 13 goals in the last 2 meetings...I don't think any of the rest of the people near the top can be considered serious contenders at this point, though I know better than to count out Detoit.

Wings have looked like garbage against teams that are bad right now or are usually bad teams, and look pretty good against other "top" teams. That said I am expecting them to sit around the playoff cutoff spot for most of the season, and hopefully when all of the injured players return they will elevate their game enough to get into the playoffs comfortably. (Soon to be) 8 points behind the Hawks, but 3 points would jump then 5 places in the conference standings. On the plus side Jimmy Howard is looking like an NHL goaltender, not an AHL one like he did last year.

Hawks seem poised to take the West, Colorado, Calgary and San Jose also look quite good. Luckily the Wings are 3-1-1 against those 4 teams to this point.

I gotta say, I expected our team to get a boost with the return of Hossa....I didn't expect this at all. Last time the Hawks played the Sharks at the UC we had to come down from 3-1 to force OT, which Seabs got the game winner on. This is just a crazy performance by the Hawks, I love it!

I'm not surprised at all, Hossa got a huge contract for a reason, he's got fantastic hands and plays intelligently. Kane and Toews both have great puck control as well, especially Kane, when he gets back into game shape that line is going to score a whole lot of goals. He looks pretty winded between shifts, like he was going to pass out during the intermission interview, but when he's actually on the ice he looks really sharp.

I think people had low expectations of Hossa because he disappeared during the playoffs last year, and had "only" 71 points. The Toews/Kane/Hossa line is insane, and should be one of the best in the NHL.
