Big sports day today for Canadians. Our very own little super bowl and I get to watch the canucks beat the Sharks. Last nights blow out was fun and all but I want to see the canucks beat a real team, not a ahl affiliate.

Also next week in fantasy hockey I get to beat on Mark Eaton. Can't wait.

They're not talented, trust me. Anyone who can afford a guitar can get a show, especially in a place like New York. When they're back in town for just 1 night and they promise not to fuck 2 girls apiece so they can spend time with you after the show, then you can skip a game to go see them.

Okay....here we go:

#1 - I never said posting on the internet is an indictment if someone has friends or not. It's a matter of wanting to hang out with my friends INSTEAD OF BEING IN WATCHING TV ON A SATURDAY NIGHT.

#2 - Who said anything about my friends being talented? I never said they're about to be signed to a label or anything. But I like to see them perform, and support them. Something you'd know nothing about.

#3 - knowing my team was going to lose the game doesn't make me less of a fan. They've been sliding for weeks now...BadKarma and myself have both been totally honest about it. Do I stop rooting for them? nope. Am I waiting them to tank for a half-decade to get all lottery picks? never. But I don't need to waste the beginning of a Saturday night to watch them.

#4 - I split my season tickets with my dad. I pay a good chunk to cover my share, they're in my name.

I would have wanted Cooke to play tomorrow...but it's doubtful anyone on the Rangers team would have taken care of the matter themselves.

But we all know star players get star treatment. The lack of consistency is one of the things that kills me about the NHL.

The only thing that saved Ansimov is that Cooke is a smaller player than he is. Here's my major problem with what's occurring now. You have an incident where a very talented future star in the league gets blindsided by a star player. Said star player gets no suspension, no fine, absolutely nothing.

Now you take a no name grinder like Matt Cooke who does it to another no name grinder and he's hit with a two game suspension for a virtually identical hit. Colin Campbell needs to be removed from his position. This is the man who is supposed to throw out these suspensions. Yet he continues to allow star players to receive preferential treatment. Another prime example is last year's finals. Malkin should have been hit with an automatic one game suspension for instigating after he jumped Zetterberg.

Again, if people want parity then Campbell needs to be shitcanned. Until then all we're ever going to see is star players getting handled with kiddy gloves. Until then all we're going to see are half hearted explanations as to why someone didn't get a suspension. No previous pattern of it, come on. If it was Joe Schmoe playing on the Blues fourth line it's a suspension.

If the NHL isn't going to call these right down the line then they need to just come right out and say they are going to give star players preferential treatment so everyone knows where they stand.

I don't think anyone here is going to argue that Campbell, or the NHL is doing a good job about CONSISTANTLY disciplining players, especially in regards to hits-to-the-head.

Don't call it when star players throw high hits? Toss/suspend/fine guys for instigator penalties?

While the NHL struggles so much to gain a foothold in the States, the product, the game, is remarkable and extremely entertaining and better than anything else out there. Yet with Bettman so desperate to compete against the NBA, MLB, and NFL he's ruining the game!!!! Talk about tossing out the baby with the bathwater...

I didn't even think Cooke landed the hit on the head hard enough to warrant even Anisimov not playing the rest of the game, then again I didn't pay much attention to it, but maybe it was the intent that actually got him suspended.

Why is Brashear not suspended though? I thought trying to punch another player with an official standing between them was an automatic? At least tomorrow's game will (probably) be entertaining as far as fighting and such... but of course, with all Monday games, I'll be in class. Fuck school.

My dad does pay for my half my ticket, being a full-time college student and part time worker only allows me to pay about 1200 of the 2400 for my ticket. Hence me being grateful towards him.

Bleah, Canucks couldn't stay out of the box tonight, not a smart plan when you play a team like San Jose. I was surprised to see the big line for San Jose get shut down so well but christ did we let their grinders go to town.

I can see Brashear not getting a suspension. I'm shocked that Avery didn't get one though. Apparently the NHL has already forgotten Steve Moore.
