If the playoffs started today, Philadelphia, NYR, Detroit, Montreal and Vancouver would all miss the playoffs. As far as this forum goes, only Washington and Pittsburgh would make it in.

Oh hey i'm late but went out almost all weekend for Girlfriends birthday and all SO

good game again for habs, just sad we lost our 2 points win with 15sec left in 3rd, but once again even after going 2-0 caps Price didn't loose control and kept the team in game which made them come back 3-2 till the end. We lost in OT but almost only good came out of that game.

Grey cup : not a fan of football but what an ending, (mini story for those who doesn't know) Saskatchewan was leading 27-25 and 11sec left average, MTL tries to do a 3point kick and miss it, but Saskatchewan gets a penalty for having too many man on the field, which give the chance to MTL to redo the kick, and it worked!!!! unnexpected vicotry of 28-27 for MTL!

And last thing for those who watch boxing, Lucian Bute owned Librado Andrade in 4 rounds.

What Avery did wasn't even in the same galaxy as what Bertuzzi did.

Actually it was. Avery started swinging at Fedotenko from behind(ie before Fedotenko was even aware of the situation.) Which is the same exact thing that Bertuzzi did. Plus, I think you're judging the results, not the act itself. What happens if Avery actually connects flush with one of the punches he threw from behind? Fedotenko isn't a heavyweight. Hell I've only ever seen him fight once when he broke his hand on Colby Armstrong's face. So we're talking about a guy who isn't exactly know for the physical stuff.

I can understand wanting to say Avery is nowhere near as bad as Bertuzzi. But the act itself was just as bad and easily just as dangerous. The result was nowhere near the same. But if actions like this aren't punished what's to stop them from happening in the future? Don't let the results blind you to how potentially dangerous that could have been.

If the playoffs started this time last year the Pens would have been in the same boat. There is a reason the season is 82 games. Also a lot of the those teams have games in hand on higher ranked teams, so if it all evened out it might look a bit different.

Also what Avery did wasn't as bad as Bertuzzi's. Bert took a swing with his gloves still on, fully behind the guy and rode him to the ice. Also looking at the replay it looks like Avery hits him in the chest first, and although I can't say I know where he was aiming or what his intentions were, it was not the same thing as Bertuzzi. Also I have a fair degree of dislike for both players so I'm not trying to play any kind of favoritism. On the subject of Bert I hate seeing him wearing the winged wheel again, moreso because he can't score to save his life.

Also apparently Ovechkin got an injury from his kneeing, and the NHL.com headline is "Ovechkin leaves game with injury" not "Ovechkin ejected from game, sustains injury on same play"

Might be a first actually, considering most players who get misconducts aren't superstars and therefore serving their suspension so soon after the first infraction.

Oh well. I'm kind of glad the Rangers lost steam recently, they were scaring me at the beginning of the season. Everyone hits their droughts though, they'll be back.

Pens had a drought for a few weeks and then bounced back but wether the rangers will who knows. I still have Gaborik winning the scoring title though lol.

On an unrelated note Ovechkin injures self on knee to knee hit that he aparently initiated. Anyone think he may get a suspension on top of his injury would be pretty hilarious to see.

I still don't think the Pens hit their drought... they just got steamrolled by injuries. I'm hopeful though that it was the only significant losing streak we'll see though!

Gaborik is gonna just need to not get injured if he's going to win the scoring title, but the goals tonight put him in first place/kept him in first, right?

And Ovechkin, while I'd never say I'm happy to see anyone get hurt, hopefully he learns a lesson about taking runs at people's knees. Then again I haven't seen the hit yet either, so whatever.
