Its a concussion induced injury (concussion as in rattling force, not concussion as in the brain injury). Don't think "the surface skin of the outer ear is cut." Things rupture deep in where nothing foriegn even touched them and the blood pours out. If you're unfortunate enough to be close around an explosion without anything protecting your ears, both your ears will be blown out and bleeding as well.

Also, AO now has:
2 Boarding Game Misconducts
1 Kneeing Game Misconduct
1 Fined Sleufoot
1 Unpunished Kneeing hit on Gonchar in ECSF

And thats just all I can remember in 45 seconds. When will he be suspended? The NHL has yet to hand anything down from last night. Cooke's suspension came the following afternoon, and that was on a weekend. I suspect if nothing is done by dinner, he won't be suspended at all.

Because Malkin recieves the same protection that AO does, yes I'm once again referring to game 3. Its been said, Colin Campbell is too scared to suspend any star players, because that will diminish the upcomings game value. Its not concidence that when teams like Pittsburgh, Washington, and other teams with big stars visit other teams, ticket sales, number of viewers, etc etc increase. Its all about the mighty dollar.

Game 3, I'll give you that, but thats all anyone can ever cite. 1 Instigator misconduct =/= Ovechkin's track record.

(And frankly, why are there the 3 instigator = suspension / 1 instigator in the final 5 minutes = suspension clauses? Is instigating a fight really worse than boarding? 9 of 10 Instigator penalties are a joke. Avery's the other day would be the 1 in 10 where its dangerous and can really hurt someone a la Steve Moore, but like the one Jay McKee got earlier this season - 2 players were scuffling, he came over and did the actual fight instead of the Penguin scuffling. Its not like he jumped an unwilling combatant from behind...)

You say that like it's a bad thing. I try to keep my posts about the Caps, and certainly the Pens, within reason. Plus most of the time it just devolves into Sep talking to himself.

Also, word is Ovechkin skated this morning, and is listed as day to day. Nothing yet about league punishment. Honestly if he's not suspended at least one game, there's something very wrong, but the injury will probably only keep him out a week or two.

We dont go out of our ways to remember every time the league has bent over to protect their precious Penguins stars. Game 3 happens to stand out because of the timing (Finals) and it could arguably be a turning point for why Crosby raised the cup and Lidstrom didnt.

Ovechkin is fine. He pulled a Mike Richards and faked an injury so that nobody from Carolina would jump his ass. I've been going to the Yahoosports comments and getting people all worked up. It's kind of funny. And I miss Virtue because he was here last year and now he's forgotten us

It's because of the precedent it sets. When a game is out of hand in the waning moments you can't start a fight/brawl and risk injuries, it's not good for the game. A better example in my mind was actually the Wings vs the Ducks this past postseason, mostly because that involved Perry attacking Rafalski after the guy had come back from an injury and isn't a fighter (notably, Perry was ragdolled by Ericsson a few games earlier in a fight), Getzlaf going after Zetterberg I think it was, and Niedermeyer getting tied up with Datsyuk and throwing him some elbows to the head.

If the Pens lost game 3 with Malkin out wouldn't it have been a 5 games series? No time for Fleury to stone Lids at that point.

I'm fine with that, though I do feel the hit on Kaleta was worse. Only problem with the Kaleta one is Kaleta has already dished 2-3 epic hits from behind this season. I'm glad Campbell's balls finally dropped and he issued a suspension to a star player.

As was said, if game 3 didnt include Malkin, theres no saying that they may have been a game 5 6 or 7. I dont know how you define turning point, but to me is an event, could really be any kind, triggering a very significant change.

Pretty fucking stupid to be debating whether someone being in a game or not would've changed something that's in the past. I realize that you're just anti-Crosby, etc., and that I'm just another cocksucking Penguins fan, but really, both of you probably should just let it go. Penguins won the cup last season, get over it. It's December, your team has a couple more months to get to where the Penguins were last year.

Also, very surprised Ovechkin got suspended, but two games is laughable. Guess it's a start though.

Glad that Ov got suspended, hopefully superstars won't be untouchable now. Despite hoping I know it will still take 3 "normally would be suspensions" to get one short suspension for them though.

Also apparently the Canadiens 100th anniversary is this Friday, and they have a 2 hour pregame ceremony planned. TWO HOURS. What the hell, Rata.

Quenneville ranked second, whose teams are now 6-20 under him vs. the Wings in the postseason. Unfortunately they couldn't keep the streak alive of winning the cup every time after beating one of his teams.

I'm hoping that the new stance becomes that all following serious incidents for AO include a suspension, and that it doesn't revert into a "skip 2~5 incidents, punish 1" cycle. At least they can never ever claim again on NHL.com that he has no track record for this sort of behavior now.

Glad to see Ronnie Wilson on that list, he certainly turned around the Caps in a hurry when he took over. Going to game four of the Cup finals in '98 was a great memory, just don't say the name Esa Tikkanen around me. I thought for sure Scotty Bowman would be #1 but I guess he retired too early into the aughts.

Watching some of the Jackets/Hawks, I get the feeling Hossa/Toews/Kane is gonna score on every shift. Scary.
