    I agree, although my guess would be that if he doesn't get another kneeing or misconduct for about a month after he comes back, the next incident won't result in a suspension.

    I wonder if someone's career is going to have to end to get Campbell to take this stuff seriously.

    Glad to see Coach Q get some recognition on that list, I was kinda miffed that he wasn't at least nominated for the CotY trophy last year.

    Also I'm surprised they decided to pair off Kane/Toews/Hossa/Sharp already, figured it'd come but not this soon into Hossa's return.

Hell I've only ever seen him fight once when he broke his hand on Colby Armstrong's face. So we're talking about a guy who isn't exactly know for the physical stuff.

    I can understand wanting to say Avery is nowhere near as bad as Bertuzzi. But the act itself was just as bad and easily just as dangerous. The result was nowhere near the same. But if actions like this aren't punished what's to stop them from happening in the future? Don't let the results blind you to how potentially dangerous that could have been.
    First off, sorry Brill for taking a while to respond to you. The thing I can't stand the most about this thread is people seemingly disappear when their argument is invalid...You know who you are

    Avery face-washed Fedotenko from behind, then spun him around before he punched him.
    Bertuzzi punched Moore from behind, and drove his face into the ice.

    Did Avery start his "assault" from behind? yeah, but he faced Fedotenko when he punched him.

    Edit: As much as Avery is disliked around the league...and frankly while he's not imploding, nor exploding the Rangers...he's doing one so much worse...NOTHING, he's been neutered, a non-entity, which is the antithesis to his game. The fact of the matter is what he did pales in comparison to what Bertuzzi did. Bertuzzi basically ended his career after that thuggery. He clearly never recovered from the backlash of it.

    Avery has to be doing something right if he's been playing on Gaborik's line the last few games.

    considering the other forwards skating for the Rangers, that's not saying all too much right now.

    Playing with a pulse?

    I really want to see SJ's top line(the new line, Heatley Thornton Marleau) against a healthy Pens top line. I really do. Id say the same for the hawks, but we all know what ended up happening there now don't we.

    Unfortunately I think San Jose would win that fight. Heatley has more of a scoring touch in one hand than Kunitz or Guerin. That's assuming we're talking about goal-scoring, anyway.

    Just watched it on NHL.com, it was awesome. Mason was so fuckin' pissed. I guess that's what happens when all he does is extend his legs in a split to cover the bottom of the net, someone was going to learn eventually.

    Also apparently the Canadiens 100th anniversary is this Friday, and they have a 2 hour pregame ceremony planned. TWO HOURS. What the hell, Rata.

    Also found this satisfying:

    Quenneville ranked second, whose teams are now 6-20 under him vs. the Wings in the postseason. Unfortunately they couldn't keep the streak alive of winning the cup every time after beating one of his teams.

    TBH the celebrations starts at like 3PM EST lol, but yeah i'm gonna miss all of it because it's my job christmas party, so unless they have a TV there

    Going to have to disagree with you on this Oxy. Regardless we can all revel in the Ovechkin suspension. While we're on the subject of the Rangers. I'm very surprised that Gaborik hasn't been hit with a serious injury yet. He's playing the way that everyone knew he could. His talent has never been questioned. So it's nice to see a perenially injured player producing and making people realize there are other players in the league not named Ovechkin, Crosby, or Malkin. I think if he's able to stay healthy and continue the pace he's on Gaborik will hit the 100 point plateau and at least 50 goals. Just my prediction.

    To be honest, Malone probably would have, but he's wasting away in Tampa.

    Orpik. And Orpik would probably tear off Pomminville's arm for having done so.

    Holy shit that shot was fucking brutal. Laperrier's head snapped back and everything. The refs blew the whistle right away, they knew that shit was gonna be bad.

    That dude has much bigger balls than I do...holy shit. Coming back in the same game after that is fucking nuts.

    And once again I'll state, hockey players are the toughest athletes on the planet. I'm more amazed that the trainers let him come back.

    For the record, I think the suspension is a bit short, but I'm not surprised. Leagues don't suspend star players. So sitting OV for two games is like sitting a scrub for 20. If you take a look though, it wouldn't have a huge impact had it been 5 or even 7 games. Our next 7:

    FLA
    @PHI (this one hurts a bit)
    @TB
    @BUF (this one hurts a bit more)
    CAR
    @TOR
    @COL (hurts a little, but they're definitely coming back to earth)

    Worst case scenario we probably end up .500 in a seven game suspension. As it stands he'll probably be back for BUF (wouldn't surprise me if they rested his knee against TB) next week, which rules.
