Pominville/Turco for Malone/Huet? You gotta be kidding me.

dont worry sepu, he will be back just in time for the home and home with you guys.
words for the wise: if you dont want to fight, dont square up and drop your gloves

But thats just the thing, Bradley hadn't squared up and dropped his gloves. His gloves aren't even on the ice and Carcillo has clearly already landed that vicious knockout blow. This isn't a wild west shootout where the goal is to draw your guns first. This is a hockey fight and there's a code behind it and you know as well as I and everyone else here does that Bradley had no chance there. Yes he was getting ready to fight, but he was still a good 3 seconds away from being ready.
bradley was ready to fight on the previous shift. theres no question it looks like a cheap shot. but seriously. a split second longer and carcillo would have gotten punched instead. its nice to be able to watch the replay and make your assessment, but right when it happens, you cant expect a hockey player (let alone carcillo) to make the judgement in half a second's time. if bradley wasnt a fighter, then its clearly a cheap one. but when carcillo hit him, bradley was just about to punch him as well. he just got beat to the punch (HAH)
did bradley even get hurt? i didnt hear anything about what happened to him
I leave town for one weekend and I miss a complete thrashing of the lolFlyers? Don't really care about the fight, I'll take my checking line wingers getting knocked the fuck out for an 8-2 win any night.
Also happy to see George McPhee as the #8 GM on Puck Daddy's countdown. He's drafted extremely well recently and the Caps' success (along with a Calder Cup win for Hershey) has been a credit to his efforts.
I don't know what fight you're watching there Abraxas. Bradley was still holding onto his stick. Carcillo was not about to get punched. At all. It was a sucker punch. I can understand wanting to defend your team, but come on. There's no defending that. If Bradley was ready to drop on his prior shift, why didn't someone oblige him then? It's very rare I actually agree with Sep's insanity but he is right this time. It's one thing to put a guy down when he's got his gloves off and he's ready to swing. It's something completely different when you put a guy down who is holding his stick and doesn't even have his gloves off. 4 games may have been a bit harsh, but a suspension is definitely warranted.
look at seps last post. look where bradley's right arm is when carcillo's punch landed. bradley's fist in 6 inches from his dome (note his stick and gloves are out of his hands) as i said, if carcillo waited half a second longer, he would be the one laying on the ice.
again, at actual speed, it looks cheap. but Sepu's pic unintentionally proves my point.
not arguing the penalty or the suspension. it looks bad
Dan Carcillo, 4 games for jumping the gun on a willing opponent (whether his gloves were off or not are irrelevant to my upcoming statement, as Bradley was willing to fight).
Scott Walker, 0 games for sucker punching an opponent who possibly was not willing, nor was attempting to take their gloves off.
that is solely due to reputation. carcillo is a "repeat offender". Walker is a honest, hard-nosed player whose wife has cancer.
who would you suspend
Actually no. The reason his fist is even that close to Carcillo is from the recoil of getting blasted. There was no point in which Bradley was remotely close to hitting Carcillo. Off topic, wife just emailed me and said we have tickets for tonight's game. So that's a nice surprise on an as of so far, shitty Monday.
ok, we can go on all day. but in the end bradley was dropping his shit and bringing his hand towards carcillo and he certainly wasnt going to do the fist pound.
I feel bad but I'm still lauging at Brian Campbell getting blasted while trying his goddamn spin shit the other night. Every goddamn time he touches the puck he does a stupid spin move like he's incapable of just skating forward normally.
I'm sorry buddy I'm not going to argue it. I see what I see. Of all the people to defend though I would think Carcillo would be pretty low on that list lol.
Late to answer Nynja, but I'd trade for Lecavalier straight up. (Either Gomez or Gionta)
But I can't get excited over that rumour anymore. For years it's been "Montreal in the works to get a deal done with Tampa" and nothing ever happens.
If it's true, good for the Habs.
If it's not, it'll be rumoured again just before the deadline.
Wait are we talking fantasy hockey or trading Lecavalier straight up for Gionta or Gomez in real life? That would be quite possibly the most retarded trade in the history of the NHL.
im not defending Carcillo, necessarily. just the fact i think he got shafted in the instance. nynja put it best when he said he jumped the gun. its not like bradley was an unsuspecting player. he was clearly going to fight him. i dont see how you cant see that.
the fact of the matter is if his name wasn't dan carcillo, he wouldn't have gotten half of what he did. i mean did you see the cross checking call when bradley was laying on the ice after he checked him? shit's weak
There's a shock- a guy with a rooting interest who thinks his suspended player got shafted. Gee, never saw that one coming.
I can give Carcillo the benefit of the doubt in that it's easy to armchair quarterback a fight, but a hell of a lot harder to manage those split seconds when you're actually slugging it out. Maybe .5 seconds later, and that's a knockout punch everyone is cheering on YouTube. But as it stands, he hit him too early and got shipped for it. It happens. It's hockey, an amazingly violent sport played by homicidal men who make decisions in the blink of an eye. Shit is going to get ugly sometimes. I could do without the "so and so is a dirty player" arguments that have to happen after every bad hit though. Bradley wasn't crying about it and the Flyers definitely paid the price. How I long for the days when sports arguments didn't all lead to hysterics and hyperbole.
At any rate, Brads is fine. He's a tough dude, just needed some stitches. Gonna miss a couple of games because his wife is giving birth though (how is that for timing?).
Oh and Chris Bourque was picked up by the Caps. Did you guys see that? lol
And finally, OV is back tonight. Caps only outscored their opponents 14-4 in the two games he was gone. Team is now 6-2 with him out of the lineup this year.
and nipples
Oh I'm not saying that Bradley wouldn't have dropped the gloves. It's a foregone conclusion that he was going to fight. That's the beauty of the sucker punch. You get the first shot while the other guy is pretty much unprepared(ie hand on stick, gloves still on.) It was a cheap shot. If one player is already swinging and the other is still holding his stick the playing field seems a little unbalanced.
