Restaurant is far worse, since the options you have of minimizing the annoyance of the child are reduced greatly. At least with a supermarket/grocery store/whatever you can walk away, or at least attempt to minimize the time spent near the offending people.

I've been at a restaurant a few times where halfway through the meal a couple will come in with a demon child already screaming. You never really know what the situation is behind the kid crying, but they are usually very successful at pissing everyone in the place off. Sure, you can't eat at the drive-thru and make meals at home every day of your parenting life, but people who do take a very young child to a nicer restaurant are just completely rolling the dice, and probably don't give a fuck about the other people.

Whenever this happens to me, I am far, far more upset at the parents for creating the entire situation than the child who may or may not know they are making a scene (or might actually be crying for justifiable reasons). If the kid really is in pain though, the parents should be taking care of them at home, and not eating at a damn restaurant.

Cause that is exactly what happend right?

A Gwinnett County man is in custody accused of slapping a stranger’s crying toddler in a Stone Mountain Wal-Mart on Monday.

    http://www.ajc.com/multimedia/dynami...er_244633l.jpg

Sonya Mathews, the mother of the 2-year-old child, told police that both were walking in the aisles of the Rockbridge Road store when Roger Stephens, 61, approached and said “if you don’t shut that baby up, I will shut her up for you,” according to a police report.

A few moments later, in another aisle, Stephens grabbed the 2-year-old and slapped her across the face four or five times, according to the report.

Stephens then told Mathews, “See, I told you I would shut her up,” according to the report.

A bystander held Stephens until store security came to assist, according to a WSB-TV report.

When police arrived, Stephens said that he slapped the child and that he apologized to Mathews, according to the report.

Have you ever had to take a 2 year old anywhere?

Restaurant, movie theaters and other places where people are stationary for large amounts of time with the intent to relax, yes it is obnoxious and unacceptable to have a wailing child regardless of the situation and the parent should remove them if attempts at appeasing them are not working.

But people whining about that shit in a grocery store or Wal-Mart, that's pathetic.

Not completely. Like gearing up in FFXI, shit is also situational in parenting, yo.

I just don't want certain people with their opinions of 'BUT I HAVE CHILDREN YOU HAVE TO FUCKING BEND TO MY EVERY SITUATIONAL WHIM' thinking they are justified all the time. Kids cry, and the good parents will try to minimize it, or avoid situations where it causes unnecessary problems. Others need to sometimes realize that kids cry, and there might be no quick solution.

However, believe it or not, parenting involves a little fucking sacrifice every once in awhile, so yeah, you might not be able to do all the things you want to do, like fly in a sixteen hour flight, or go out to that nice restaurant to escape the demands your children normally place on you.

In short, I agree, assuming the parent isn't being a complete douchebag. That is overwhelmingly not the usual case though.

    Yes, she's 10 now.

Guess what? I already said dude was wrong, so no points there! You stated the difference between a store & a restaurant, and I just pointed out that kids need to be kept in line whether they're at a fine dining establishment or lolmart.

And you're a douchebag for saying that. And obviously a bad parent if you have a kid and think such.

Yes, because only bad parents teach their children to behave & have consideration for others.

Yeah, reprimand your toddler for having an earache and crying about it. That's not going to fuck your kid up.

    What a dipshit.

Exactly. I still love the backseat Parenting from people with no kids. I'm not condoning kids acting up. I had to walk my daughter around outside a restaurant a couple days ago, because she was being loud. The funny thing was the drunks in the bar area that were screaming at the game were being louder than she was.

Yeah, take your kid to a huge store full of germs & bacteria from 10,000 other people when they're sick. That's not going to make them even worse.

    What a clueless jackass.

This I don't necessary agree with. Kids will act up, which isn't usually a big deal, but a child being disrespectful to the parent(s) or someone else in a public place is bullshit. it really doesn't matter if it's a restaurant or the local ghetto bargain store.

Edit: Again though, this flows with the 'parenting is situational' theme. A 2 year old is most likely not being disrespectful, they are being a 2 year old. I was referring to kids who are a little older, and will generally know better (and are actually capable of actually harassing others).

Which I agree with completely but in the context of what the trolls in this thread were posting that the kid deserved it, fkya, and lolbadparents ...those motherfuckers need to be tire ironed.

I wasn't referring to the story in the OP, just store experiences in general.

I think the largest problem here in this thread is that people are expressing their opinions on how children should be handled, and are not basing that on an a certain age group. "Parents need to fucking take care of their kids" and other such comments might very well be directed at kids who are 5+ and I would generally agree with them. Applying the same concept to a child younger than 2 doesn't work so well though.

Yeah, I didn't think of specifying it until I had already submitted the post, which is why I specified the age thing.

Yeah, maybe they should just leave their kid in the fucking car.

The Finesse is just a retard that completely spaced the fact that we are WAY PAST the OP's subject and talking about brats that should have their parents drowned in acid, generally speaking.

Yeah, that's exactly what I said. If you think the only options are taking a child from entrance to exit of a store screaming all the way, and just leave a screaming child in the car, then YOU sir, are the one that needs a chat w/ CPS.

Do us all a favor and stfu if you have no reading comprehension (which ... pro-tip... you don't)
