First off, I don't have children. I do understand children will have random tantrums in stores, so I actually pity and parent I see trying to get their kids under control. The parents that make me rage are the ones that do not try and get their kids under control. Even in fucking Wal-Mart I should not have to put up with a kid screaming/squealing while the parent ignores them and talks on their cell phone. Then there are the idiot parents that take their kids to nice restaurants or movie theaters. Too many times have I been stuck in a movie theater where a child will constantly kick the back of my seat or make a stupid comment out loud about every little detail in the movie.

Yeah, because you can pick up a tube of preparation H and your high blood pressure medication across the fucking store. No, absolutely not. It's the parent's responsibility to remove their child if they're throwing a tantrum. It's beyond ridiculous that I should have to abandon whatever I am doing because someone else's bad decision is having a meltdown over not getting a box of Count Chocula. I don't know where parents lost this technique, but my parents used to threaten to take my ass outside and beat me where nobody could see it happening, and you bet your Count Chocula it only took one time making good on that promise for that to become the most effective weapon in their arsenal.

Why is there this outpouring of pity for fucked up children? Does some screaming, mentally handicapped asshole take priority over me if I'm in the pharmacy line picking up a prescription for migraines? Where the hell is the sympathy for my condition? Fuck kids, seriously. Their little personality defects are not more important than everything and everyone else in the world. Have some consideration for the people around you.

I have a cousin here in London, they have a 5 year old boy.

Cousin's mom+dad flew over from Asia to stay with them for 2 months aka babysit. During their stay, obviously the kid threw some tantrums, and grandpa gave him a light smack to his butt.

WHOAaaaaaaa That kid ran into the next room and dialed 911 reporting child abuse, 2 police arrived at my cousin's place that day.

TWO "devil" brothers aged ten and 12 pleaded guilty today to luring two young boys to a ravine before torturing, burning and beating them.
They forced the victims — a nine-year-old boy and his eleven-year-old uncle — into sex acts with each other, burned the younger one on the EYELIDS with cigarettes and dropped a SINK on the head of the older boy who was left fighting for his life.

They gloated as the boys begged for mercy, telling them: "We can't leave you....you're not dead yet."

Today they pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent at Sheffield Crown Court.

They also admitted two counts of intentionally causing a child to engage in sexual activity.

They cannot be named for legal reasons.


Beaten

The brothers — who were in care and living with foster parents in Edlington, Doncaster — had told the victims they knew where they could see a giant toad and foxes.

But they turned on the boys after leading them away and started beating them with sticks and bricks.

The tormentors were drinking cans of Carlsberg as they carried out the attack trying to force the boys into sex acts with each other and urinating in their mouths.

The eleven-year-old boy — who was stripped half naked — was beaten so badly that at one stage he begged the brothers to "Leave me, I can't see. Leave me to die".

The younger one was burned with a cigarette on his eyelids and ear, and a sharp stick was rammed into his arm.

Burning cigarettes were also pushed into the gaping wound on which he eventually needed plastic surgery.

He was also forced to eat nettles and had his genitals and face stamped on.

He was then ordered to go away and "kill himself". He was so frightened he pretended to ram a stick down his own throat to give the impression he was harming himself.

The ordeal only ended when the nine-year-old managed to get away and was later found covered in blood wandering in a daze.

His uncle was discovered 90 minutes later barely conscious with severe head injuries on the edge of a stream.

Citing anecdotal solutions that worked for you as a child 20 years ago doesn't make it work 20 years later with another child all the time, every time. Especially in infants and young toddlers. I understand if you have a four year old just wreaking havoc in a public place, the blame likely falls on the parent, but that's not always the case with younger children. Whenever people visit a public place or a family restaurant, they have to realize the possibility that they'll, you know, be interacting with the public or a family. If you want your damned medicine while avoiding the general public, use the drivethrough. It works for practically every other pharmaceutical patron.

First, my wal-mart has a drive through. Second, if the guy was in a state of mind to pick up another child and slap it four times, I seriously doubt it takes a whole lot to set him off. Or they could just be a normal person trying to shop while some person's kid screams at the top of their lungs nonstop for half an hour. It's more than a little ridiculous to assume something is wrong with a person's life because they don't enjoy the dulcet tones of a toddler's temper tantrum. I didn't realize parents dug their kids' screaming so much that even they don't find it annoying anymore. Point is, if your kid is disrupting shit significantly, you need to remove them. There shouldn't even be a question about that. If you don't like it or your kid has problems with acting out every time they go out, someone should invest in a babysitter or leave the kids at home with the other parent. I seriously doubt that someone's child will be permanently damaged by not going on every Walmart trip with mommy.

Guys -- I'm not actually defending this guy hitting the kid. I'm saying that kids who throw temper tantrums should be taken out of that setting until they calm down to avoid situations like this. Whether or not people voice it, the people around you are getting really pissed off the longer your kid keeps wailing like a siren. It's only courteous to inconvenience yourself for 10 minutes while your kid calms down outside rather than pissing off 15 strangers because you need your cheetos RIGHT NOW.

I saw some old lady in the produce section snipe at some 9 year old to pick up some garlic that fell on the floor and that people should pick things up when they see them. I almost hit her.
